      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at FreeAgent in Apr 2025

      Interview

My experience applying for an internship at this company was one of the most enjoyable and well-structured processes I’ve encountered. The journey begins with a coding challenge, which felt less like a typical test and more like a small real-world project. The problem instruction was clear, and I appreciated how it allowed room for creativity while testing both problem-solving and technical skills. It was genuinely fun to complete and gave me a good sense of the type of work the company does. If your solution meets the mark, the next step is a phone interview. This was a relaxed, friendly conversation where I had the chance to talk about myself, my background, and why I was interested in working with the company. The interviewer made me feel very comfortable – it felt more like a chat than a formal interview. Their approachable and kind demeanour really helped put me at ease. The final step is an in-person interview with two members of the Engineering management team. This stage dives deeper into your coding challenge submission, technical skills, and includes some behavioural questions. The emphasis on teamwork and collaboration in this part reflects how important those qualities are in their engineering culture. Despite being more technical, the discussion remained welcoming and engaging. What stood out most throughout the process was the people – everyone I interacted with was incredibly friendly, approachable, and professional. The communication from the company was outstanding. They clearly explained each step, shared what to expect, and ensured I had all the information needed. It made the entire interview process feel smooth and supportive. Overall, this internship application experience not only tested my skills but also gave me insight into a company that truly values clear communication, collaboration, and candidate experience. If I were to suggest one small improvement, it would be to possibly shorten the response time after the coding challenge. If you're looking for a friendly, well-organised, and genuinely rewarding internship experience – apply!
