I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at H&M (Manchester, England) in Sept 2017
Interview
Had a quick 10 min phone interview 2 days after applying online. Just asked questions around availability, why I wanted to work for H&M and what is good customer service. Very relaxed just focus on some of their 7 core values such as Improvement (progression) and mention they have a great team dynamic. Got invited to an assessment day within the same call, it was in the store I had applied for and there were 7 candidates in total including myself. Again super relaxed, wear clothes that reflect your personal style but I would also keep it quite chill and comfy as if that's what you would wear on the shop floor whilst working. There were two senior staff members at the assessment, both quite young and very friendly. They asked us all to introduce ourselves, an interesting fact about ourselves, a fact about H&M and why you want to work for H&M.
The rest of the assessment involved 3 tasks, the first was making a poster individually about 5 responsibilities of a great sales advisor (obs customer service is key, also encouraging sales and adhering to H&M guidlines and policies). In the second task we were all given a scenario about a particular customer and had 15mins to pic an outfit from the shop floor and then present it to the rest of the group. I had a young man and absolutely panicked as I'm not very familiar with male fashion but I had checked out their website the night before and quickly had a look at the men's collection which helped a lot. Third task we had to work in a group, we were given scenarios like "your colleague is constantly leaving the shop floor without notice to go to the loo, what would you do?" and had to answer after a couple of minutes of discussion between ourselves. I think here they're looking at how well you interact with other people as well as answering the scenarios so just give a healthy input of answers and don't cut anyone off, appreciate every persons input.
Was invited to a face to face interview couple of days after the assessment which was pretty straight forward, classic interview questions except 1 that really threw me (name an inspirational manager or leader and why?). Just make sure you research the company and have a few facts up your sleeve and show you work well in a team because it's one of their biggest values. Also ask at least 1 or 2 questions at the end when they ask if you have anything you would like to ask them. It shows you're interested in the company!

I applied online. I interviewed at H&M (Dundalk) in Mar 2026
Interview
It was lovely, very interactive. Getting to meet new people, seeing the H&M store was really nice. The supervisor was really professional and warm. First we got to know each other, then did a question and answers round with everyone, situation based, customer service based, questions to display your skills etc, talking about H&M values and then we had a group task, to come with a outfit based on the provided situation.
