Put at ease, the interview panel were very friendly. The interview was Very thorough, encouraged to explore my strengths and weaknesses honestly. I was asked to give a condensed life history and asked about outside interests. My work history was discussed and qualifications that I held at the time. The interview consisted of a paper-based competency test and then a walk-round the home to observe how I interacted with residents, staff, visitors, etc. I also had to have a 1:1 phone interview.

    Assistant Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    Declined Offer
    Negative Experience

    Interview

Very poor. The person interviewing me had obviously had no professional training in interviewing style or indeed came across as professional in any way. During the interview we were constantly interrupted and she didn't even know my name or the position I had applied for. She seemed very unhappy to be doing the interview and actually came across as aggressive and seemed to project a feeling of contempt as if doing an interview was beneath her station. As I was leaving I passed an existing employee and asked if they enjoyed working there ... She just laughed and said NO!

    Interview Questions

    Reasons for Declining

I didn't feel that they appeared to value staff or future employees

    Care Assistant Interview

Anonymous Employee in Newcastle upon Tyne, England
    Accepted Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at HC-One (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in June 2013.

    Interview

I just cannot give a serious review because the interview process is so easy that it is worrying when they take on any Tom, Richard and Harry, to provide care to our elders.
There are some excellent care workers, but some just need to give it up as a bad job.
Blame the Government! If they allow care home provider cowboys to look after our elderly, then it's a bad job all round.

    Interview Questions

    • Again, I cannot give you a serious review because the most difficult question asked to me was my name.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

There's your contract, please sign it, and oh by the way you are on the national minimum wage rate. See you when your CRB comes back.
