      BDR Interview

      4 Dec 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cambridge, MA
      No offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Aug 2019

      Interview

The process was pretty smooth. The recruiter I worked with sent email preparing me for each step. I did very well in the role play. I was fully prepared for the final interview. Until, I was asked a business related question. It seems to be expected that each candidates understands the platform very well and has a reservoir of knowledge about SaaS and B2B( business acumen). I was only 5 months in my current role, so I had a lot more to learn. Unlike major of HubSpotters, I never did business in undergrad, so I could speak about the progress in B2B. I recommend doing the courses before applying. If I did, I'd shined so brightly.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review - while it wasn't the outcome you hoped for, I appreciate all the time you put into preparing and am glad that your recruiter set you up for success there. One myth I want to bust is that the majority of HubSpotters have business degrees - the diversity of academic experience is actually truly remarkable, with degrees ranging from the arts to the sciences to education. The fluency with the SaaS market comes with a lot of hard work, studying, and learning from peers, so keep working at it and you will get there! Best, Becky

nice and easy process, just prepare well do your research and you will be fine, roleplays involved but they give you a scenario to go off, no serious push back or objections they just want to see if you are coachable.

It was chill, they were super flexible. The roleplaying was weird. You needed to be fast but slow at the same time. Enough to understand painpoints but not long enough to bore them.

I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot (Bengaluru) in Mar 2025

      Interview

The lack of clear feedback from recruiters and hiring managers, combined with generic responses, has been highly disappointing. Additionally, the hiring manager appeared unfocused during the interview process, frequently shifting attention away from the candidate. This experience aligns with concerns highlighted in Glassdoor reviews about negative employee feedback regarding the company’s culture and internal practices.
