      Business Development Representative (BDR) Interview

      15 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tampa, FL
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HubSpot (Tampa, FL) in Feb 2024

      Interview

The interview process is 4 stages: first prospecting assignment, then a voice-only meeting with a recruiter, next a cold call exercise via video/zoom, and lastly an interview question session with two managers (same zoom but they hop on separately). The whole process took over a month because they had an internal sales event that put a pause on interviewing. They require you to do a lot of prep work for each phase by sending you a lot of materials ahead of time. I came into the first two interviews with excitement and passion for Hubspot, but honestly by the final interview I lost interest. In the final interview round it was obvious that one of the managers asking me questions really had no interest in connecting with me, nor had they done any research on me. It was ironic considering how much research I was expected to do about THEM. I realize that they get thousands of applicants, but I still think they could have at least looked up where I lived (in my final round I was asked where I was located which seems pretty lame for a final interview question). Overall, I think this role is great for a college grad or someone with no work experience, but for me I frankly walked out of it feeling overqualified and under appreciated. If you have 2-3 years of BDR/Sales experience already, I would pass on this job. I also feel that in this role, you are really just a number. There are hundreds of people lined up to replace you.

      Interview

process was alright, interviewee was impatient and didn't try to see how my current bdr metrics were weighted differently than thier expectations, interviewee was a bid rude and judgy, felt like i couldve had better feedback on the cold call session.
