      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Merkle

      Interview

Application and HR Interaction: The initial application process for a position at Merkle was straightforward and efficient. Submitting my resume and cover letter through their online portal was a hassle-free experience. Shortly after applying, I received a prompt response from the HR department inviting me for an initial screening interview. The HR representative was professional, friendly, and provided clear information about the job role, expectations, and the overall interview process. This early stage of engagement with Merkle gave me a positive impression, setting a hopeful tone for the subsequent phases of the hiring process. Experience with the Hiring Manager: Unfortunately, the positive experience I had with HR did not extend to the interactions with the hiring manager. From the outset of our meeting, it was palpably clear that the hiring manager had not considered me a serious candidate for the position. There was a distinct lack of enthusiasm and engagement when discussing my qualifications, previous work experiences, and how I could contribute to the team. This prejudgment seemed to overshadow the conversation, making the interview feel more like a formality rather than a genuine opportunity to assess my fit for the role. Fairness and Transparency of the Hiring Process: A significant concern I had during the interview process was the apparent lack of fairness and transparency. Despite my efforts to present my qualifications and express my keen interest in the position, the hiring manager's approach suggested a decision had been made even before giving me a fair chance to demonstrate my capabilities. This preconceived stance not only made the interview process uncomfortable but also raised questions about the overall integrity and fairness of Merkle's hiring practices. Moreover, there was a notable lack of transparency regarding the next steps in the interview process. I was left with no clear understanding of what to expect following the interview with the hiring manager. Information about timelines, further interviews, or any feedback mechanisms was not provided, leaving me in a state of uncertainty about my application status. Conclusion: While my initial interactions with Merkle's HR department were positive, reflecting a well-organized and candidate-friendly process, the experience significantly deteriorated during the phase involving the hiring manager. The lack of fairness and transparency not only affected my interview experience but also influenced my overall perception of Merkle as an employer. It is essential for organizations to ensure that all stages of the hiring process are conducted with fairness, respect, and clear communication to maintain the trust and interest of potential candidates.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Merkle (New York, NY) in Aug 2023

      Interview

I went through three rounds, and at the end of third round the interviewer asked me to do another round with him again since it is always a good sign when someone wants to continue to talk to you. In the meanwhile, recruiter reached out to me to ask for my feedback. I told her that it went fine overall, but the interviewer thought that we had at least an hour set aside for the conversation for some reason and kept on insisting that 45 minutes is not enough for this. Hence, I gave another 15 minutes to make it an hour long conversation, and he suggested that we have another conversation since the amount of time allocated was limited in his opinion. I told her that I have never had multiple rounds with the same individual in a 1-on-1, so it was a little surprising. Apparently, my feedback did not sit well with them, and I received an email after 24 hours that we are no longer interested even when the interviewer said that he wanted to do another round, and it is always a good sign when we want to continue to talk to the interviewee.
