      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance in Feb 2023

      Interview

Progressive has several steps in their interview process after the initial application. First you will be invited to take employment assessments which include some basic tests, but there is a section where they simulate a sample test call. After an overview of a sample call and platform, you have to listen to a simulated call and follow along in the computer program, entering the right info and choosing the right selections. This could be difficult if you have trouble learning new programs or remembering instructions, but if you have worked with similar calls and programs before it should be easy. You do not get to see your results and score, but it gets sent to Progressive and if you pass the assessment, you are invited to submit a video interview with just yourself. They provide plenty of material and tips to improve your performance in the interview and I highly suggest you review and incorporate everything they send you, especially practicing and using the S.T.A.R. format for answering interview questions. The video interview lets you practice the questions, and timing, so take advantage of those tools before you start the actual interview. The questions they ask as a practice question may not be what you get in the actual interview so don't get hung up on perfecting those answers, but rather mastering the STAR format and being able to professionally communicate through the webcam. After the video interview, the Recruiting team reviews it and if they want to move forward you will receive an invite to schedule a live interview with the leadership team. This part took the longest as their interview schedule was booked up for the next 2 weeks. The recruiting team does share lots of links and materials to prepare for your interview so be sure to review everything. You can also get great info about the company to base your questions off of at the end of the interview. The final live interview will be with someone on the leadership team in that region. I only had one person in mine, but could be more. The actual live interview was rather low key. they reviewed the job details, location, hours, in office/WFH expectations with me. they asked me ~3-5 STAR questions and then we just asked each other questions. Pro tips to succeed. Really master the STAR format, have great questions at the end, show your strong interest, and connect with the interviewer. They said the culture at Progressive centers around bringing your whole self to work, so showing your personality can be helpful and helps them envision you working at Progressive with them.
