Submitted application for position. Was informed it could take a very long time to get hired, even though multiple positions were open. Luckily I had a friend there who referred me, so I heard back in a couple of weeks.
The facility address went to a place that didn't exist but my friend gave me directions to get there. The facility has a gate, but there's no way to paige anyone inside. There's supposed to be a guard watching the gate for visitors, but QinetiQ eliminated that position to save money. I was able to call my friend to have the boss let me in.
The interview was brief and friendly, but I was unsure when it was actually over as it eventually just turned into casual conversation, which was fine by me. He let me know at the end he'd get back to me soon.
About a week or two later the site manager let me know I was hired and that I'd receive an offer letter soon, as well as a drug test invitation and background check consent form. I got those done right away, though apparently the background check never happened. I guess that's common within this company as over half the employees I worked with have never gotten one back.
I started a month later.
