I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Rhino Africa (Cape Town) in May 2026
Interview
The only thing I didn't like was that I had to do an assessment which included a video recording and additional work (overall 2 hours) before meeting or talking with a single person about the role, which felt impersonal.
I enjoyed the actual interview (which was the next round). It was in-person at their offices which are lovely, and the two people who interviewed me were very friendly, and made me feel at ease. It felt more like a good discussion than a strict interview.
I unfortunately didn't get to the next round, but after that it would have been an interview with the CEO and HR for a culture fit check, and then a reference check would be done.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most unusual question they asked me was whether I reckon people perceive me as I really am or not, in other words, am I approachable? I thought it was an interesting way to ask that.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rhino Africa (Cape Town)
Interview
The interview process was organized. It involved meeting with the HR representative together with a business analyst. Questions included topics around what is presented in the resume. Then there were general behavioural question which the HR representative asked.

Interview
Rhino Africa put out a job posting for a filmmaker and editor. Understandably, they sent a folder of video clips to edit as a test. After spending many hours editing their film and submitting it, they got back and said that the work is great, but due to a reshuffle in the organisation they can not hire anyone at this time.
1. Either they lied or
2. Why would they let people work to prove themselves if they aren't actually hiring?
Since then, I met a few people in the industry who have worked with them before and quickly understood that this is just a broken org, who are more obsessed with winning awards and calling themselves "the king of this jungle" than looking after employees.
