The interview process for Sourcegraph is a joke. Their interview is 8 steps and a take-home. Most of the steps were a repeat of the previous one
- Who are you?
- What are you working on?
- Tell us something challenging you did
- etc
It looked like the interviewers were not on sync on what to ask and it felt each interview was a repetition of the last one making the process exhausting. The process lasted 2 months for all the steps to be completed and it was concluded with an email of “sorry we are not proceeding with you”. The decision not to proceed is totally fair, but some feedback (a request which was ghosted) or a way to end the process before completing ten hours of interview would be much appreciated and would show they respected the applicant’s time.
During the interviews the people I talked with were kind and relaxed. However the leadership meeting was an awkward experience where the interviewer was 7 mins late into a 30minute video. During the zoom call they were grooming their hair looking at their camera barely paying attention to what was being said.
One good thing about the process was that the steps were outlined and publicly available so one can know what to expect. However after going through this experience I can only say the process is a joke and requires a lot of improvement.
p.s. it's shame to see a company like sourcegraph - which I had in high regards a couple of years ago - now be in this state
