The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Target in Apr 2010

      Interview

Target was at my university recruiting candidates for ETL and intern positions. I was particularly interested in the ETL position since I would be graduating May 2010 and took a strong interest in the company because of their reputation as a major retailer. To cut to the chase, I went through three interviews: The first interview was just an informal interview with a STL. He asked me questions about why I wanted to work for Target and a little about my past work experience. We seemed to hit it off. He then faxed over my resume right after the interview to the HR office and I got a call within an hour. I was surprised to get a call-back so quick. Over the phone, I was invited to take a tour of a store. At the store tour, we were able to meet other ETLs and upper management to ask questions about company and to get a feel of the company culture. There were at least 10 team members of Target hosting the store tour and everyone was very friendly as well as accommodating. I was also very impressed by how organized the event was and how professional everyone was at the event. My second interview was at in an actual store in the back office with two STLs from different locations at other stores in the city. I had a different perception of Target during this interview. They seemed snobbish because they came into the room, sat down and started getting the paperwork together without even introducing themselves or saying hello. I honestly think they did not want to be there. I broke the awkward silence by introducing myself. As stated in other reviews, they asked a lot of situational questions like "Describe a time when you had to motivate an unmotivated team member". The interview lasted about 25 minutes and they said I would get a call within the next few days to schedule my next interview. My last interview was a set of two interviews back to back. The first one was with the DTL and a regional HR executive. It was very similar to my second interview with the two STLs, but with different questions. I am not sure who was interviewing me in the last interview, but he asked me really detailed questions about my career goals and background. He even asked me questions about why I worked so much during college and how many brothers and sisters I had. It seemed to me like they just wanted to see if I really wanted the job and it I intended to stay for a while if they hired me on.

I applied through university. I interviewed at Target (Charlotte, NC)

      Interview

It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
