      Executive Team Leader Interview

      27 Oct 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Target in Sept 2010

      Interview

A Four year degree is required for an executive position. Applied online... I was a referral but I was called by the recruiter before my referral even put me into the computer about 2 weeks after I submitted the application. The recruiter told me she would call me back to ask me a few questions. She called and asked 2 behavior based questions. She told me I had good answers but the format of my responses were not what they were looking for; she then told me to research the STAR format and she would called me back the next day and ask me the questions again. Next day came and she never called, so I called her the following day, she apologized and asked me the questions again. She told me my answers were better and told me a Store Team Leader would call me to schedule another interview. I received a call about 3 days later and interviewed with a STL, I felt confident that that interview went well. He gave me feedback and told me he wanted to set up an interview the following day with the District Team Leader (DTL). I showed up the next day and was ambushed by a panel interview with the DTL, a Human Resources Executive, an executive recruiter, and an executive team leader. The interview was very difficult and they asked follow ups on every answer I gave. I was then told I would receive a call in a week. I got a call 2 days later from the recruiter who told me I did well and had to complete an online assessment. I wasnt expecting much, and I got a 3.4 GPA in college... but the assessment was HARD!! it asked some obvious "how do u feel about stealing" questions, but it had some difficult analytical questions, I thought I bombed it. 3 days later I got a called from the recruiter and she told me I passed my assessment. I got a conditional offer of employment while they conducted a background check and also told me I had to do a drug test within 24 hours. Did both of them. I got a called about my start date before the background was completed, then got the confirmation I passed my background and drug screen a few days later. I started my ETL training a few weeks ago and Target seems like an excellent company that really takes care of their executives. The interview process was much more difficult than any other interviews I went on and you think you did terrible after any interview. My advice is you have to portray the Target image in every interview: Fast, Fun and Friendly. Be very outgoing and excited about the opportunity. Also research questions and make sure you have your answers down.. they really drill you in that second interview.

I applied through university. I interviewed at Target (Charlotte, NC)

      Interview

It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
