I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesco (Lincoln, England) in Jun 2017
Interview
Taken into a room as a group of around 15 people. It was a group interview setting, questions such as 'name a time you went above and beyond for a customer or person' were asked, and one by one we had to answer in front of everybody. This was a first-come first-serve basis - we raised our hands when we wished to answer until everyone was done. After a few questions we were split into two teams of around 7/8 and were set a challenge. The challenge was to build a 6ft freestanding tower from paper and cellotape, with a flag (with three colours on). The interviewers watched how we interacted as a team and gave us 10 minutes to complete the task. After this, we were sent on work samples. I got taken onto the shop floor with an older employee for around 10-15 minutes. In this time, we 'faced up' shelves and restacked them - this was to give us a taste of the work and speak to an employee. We then went back upstairs and had one-on-ones with one of the interviewers. In this one-on-one, it was simply questions such as when you could start work etc, and the interviewer told me about when the induction was etc.

Question 1
Name a time you've gone above and beyond for a customer or person
Interview was around 2.5 hours in total. Started with a group interview then 20 minutes on the shop floor shadowing a checkout colleague then finally a 1 to 1 interview with a manager.
Nice environment. Kind people. Asked the right questions and I felt I could ask any questions i had. Overall I enjoyed the experience and would recommend to other people to do an interview with them.
Very easy, just asked a few questions about my experience and my availability on time etc. what days i can work and my flexability on the dates i can do
