Senior Technology Development Program Associate Interview

      9 Jun 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Eden Prairie, MN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Eden Prairie, MN) in Oct 2015

      Interview

      1. Met through career fair and gave resume 2. Received contact for initiate in person interview on school campus 3. Proceed to interview at the Technology Main Campus on Technology Drive at Eden Prairie. At the main campus, there were maybe over 100 interviewees from various schools from around the midwest. The interview started with a panel of former TDPers describing their experience. Next, we were moved upstairs to have two interview sessions, which are about 45 minutes each. You will be met with managers or directors from various parts of Optum. They are unlikely to be your direct manager. You may be asked technical questions. I wasn't, but I was asked to describe my technical experience, and answered some behavioral questions. Overall, not difficult. Although I have heard some directors are more intense...so depends on who you speak to. Received job offer within a week.

      28 Nov 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Phoenix, AZ
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Phoenix, AZ) in Nov 2015

      Interview

I applied online through my school's job database. I received an email a few weeks after inviting me to an on campus interview. That was a one on one interview where we talked about my experience, resumes, and typical behavioral questions. About a week later I was invited to travel to the office to do a campus group interview. There was a presentation of the program, a panel where we could ask questions, lunch, and two one on one interviews. My first one on one was "technical" in the sense that we spoke about projects in school and what I was learning. The second one on one was very similar to the initial interview and was very behavioral. Both one on ones were with hiring managers from different teams. Everyone was very friendly. I thought I had the best interviews that I ever had and have a technical major, yet was not extended an offer, so I am not too sure what they are looking for.

Senior Technology Development Program Associate Interview

      17 May 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Minn City, MN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Minn City, MN) in May 2015

      Interview

With my graduation about 6-7 weeks away (I'm CompE by the way), I applied online and thereafter received an email for interview over HireView. I knew the Hireview Interview was going to be awkward as I had done one earlier in week with NextEra Energy in which I unarguably bombed. So I was a little nervous. Anyways, I needed the job so I put on a clean shirt and tie and took the plunge. The next day (I think it was either the next day or there about) I received a call and was informed that I was going to be proceeding to the next interview with two IT managers. This time, because I live about 8 hour drive from Minnesota, my interview was scheduled to take place via a webcam. Incidetally I received this call while I was coming out of my final exam so practically I was done with academic work, at least in the mean time, and would be graduating in 4 days. The interview was scheduled to take place two days after the call via a two-way HireView Cam-to-Cam. The interview was smooth. They interviewers were courteous to the point of shock. I was amazed at their candor and, most importantly, how they guided me through my responses. It was more like a father-son conversation than a corporate interview. Later in the evening (about 3 hours after my interview) I was called and made an offer. I took it - it was grad gift and the HRs were nice so I decided it's worth the take.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. Tell me about a time you were altruistic in your project or work. 2. Tell me when you didn't agree with a partner in a project and how you handled it. 3. Why should we hire you? 4. Tell me when you worked in a project that was undefined.
