      Senior Product Designer Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Workday (Portland, OR)

      Interview

It was a bit rigid: questions were read verbatim in the name of keeping things fair and equal, but the result was that it felt fairly one-sided and not very conversational.

      Interview

Applied through an employee referral. Got an interview within a week with recruiter and then first round with the hiring manager. The interview was structured and questions were scripted. Didn’t feel conversational or allow for connection

      19 Feb 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Vancouver, BC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (Vancouver, BC) in Jan 2022

      Interview

I had three interviews with Workday. Phone screen, interview with the Hiring Manager and a third interview with two team members. I received an interview confirmation for the third interview two days before the Interview. The title of the interview read "presentation" and there were no notes about the format and the duration of the presentation, only the company values were attached. Because I have experience interviewing candidates myself, I am aware of the general format of a design presentation. I am also aware that each company has its own tips what they want to see in the candidate portfolio. I still probed the recruiter for more information and I received short answers a day later. That was a single day before the actual interview. Two weeks after the third interview another recruiter contacted me and requested a zoom meeting. I accepted the invitation as I assumed that Workday chose to go with another candidate and they were polite enough to provide me with feedback. I was wrong. The recruiter asked me if I was willing to consider a lower position. When I inquired about the compensation, he "told me that he did not have the numbers in front of him" and that he would get back to me. I still asked about an approximate range and the compensation package was very underwhelming and about 40% lower my current renumeration. My advise for future candidates is to always ask about the compensation package at the very first interview and for Workday to include it in the job description. I believe that this will save valuable time to both the company and the prospective candidates.
