I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2015
Interview
I applied in mid-October for the AE position for New Grads. At that time, they emailed me saying that they were not ready to look for graduates to start in the summer and were going to start the process soon. In mid-November, they reached out to me for a phone screen with a executive. I did the phone screen the day after they emailed me and at the end of my call, the executive asked if I was available to come in for an in-person interview.
The recruiting coordinator first gives you a tour of the sales floor. It's really great to see what people are doing in action!
I went to the in-person interview (2 interviews lasting 20 minutes each). The first interview was with 2 hiring managers and the second one was with 1 manager. They were all very nice and asked me about myself and "Why Sales?" and Why Yelp?". The key is to not be nervous and have a frank and open conversation with them. We then did role-play where they gave me feedback and I tried to implement their feedback, which they really liked.
As I was escorted out of the building, my interviewer said that they would notify me the following day. My recruiter called and gave me feedback on my review, which left me a little worried as my recruiter mentioned that the interviewers were questioning my motives for sales. Then, the recruiter asked to set up a time where they could do the webinar. I finished the webinar before the Thanksgiving break and the recruiter then contacted me to set up a time to connect after the break. After the break, I connected with my recruiter and they said to then do the background check. I was still nervous as they did not tell me if I had the received the offer or not. I assumed that if they were going through with the background check, I had gotten the offer but was not sure. The background check took 2 days for me and then they called to notify me that I had received the offer.
