WHAT I LOVED
1. Very fast reaction times and helpful feedback at every stage -- not only about next steps but also about strengths and improvement areas in comparison to Zalando's needs. Even if I got rejected, I would have looked back at this recruiting experience as a very actionable learning experience -- unlike with some competitors.
2. From the HR screening call to the final call with the Head BP, everyone showed great drive, expertise, kindness, and strong belief in a vision for an HR founded on human-centric principles. By the questions and discussion of the work sample, I sensed a focused on a values-driven approach to running and improving Zalando. I got the impression of a performance culture with a heart, that believes in working hard, moving fast but also providing a safe and flexible environment for people to grow.
3. Once I accepted the offer, my future manager showed great enthusiasm in making sure I got all the info and support I need to feel ready -- including opportunities to meet the team before my first day. Needless to say I'm super excited to be part of such a team. If you are applying to Zalando, I hope you have an experience like mine too -- and I actually hope to make that happen as part of my HRBP role now at Zalando.
WHAT I WOULD IMPROVE
Everything was super fast and all info was provided in a timely manner. If there is one small thing, I think more info once contract is e-signed would be great. Possible content: when to expect info regarding first day and what it will look like, in addition to strategy, vision, structures, relocation expenses form, probation process, etc. My recruiter was always available and reacted very quickly but I did not want to be too annoying. I was also lucky to have a lead who took the initiative to share very helpful info and - although I'm sure all of these will be provided on the first day anyway - more info wouldn't hurt for those of us who are super curious/anxious!
