Applied online through the company website and was contacted by a recruiter pretty soon after (within 3 days). Spoke with the recruiter on the phone and the company seemed like it wanted to really gear up the summer internship program so I was pretty excited to move forward. The recruiter set up the first round phone interview with the hiring manager but on the day of the interview, I never received a phone call and later found out that the hiring manager got caught in a meeting.
No problem- I agreed to reschedule it to later that week as I had a pending offer and I wanted to speed up the process. This time, my interview was an absolute nightmare. One of the engineers on the team interviewed me and it was an entirely horrible process. He asked me various questions related to data structures and algorithms and cut me off each time. If I gave him an incorrect answer, he would criticize me for not knowing the correct answer and speak down to me in an annoyed manner. The worst part was that at the beginning of my interview, he asked to know whether or not I was a graduate student. I told him clearly that I was a third year undergrad and it wasn't till before the final question that he said, "Since you are a graduate student, I expect you to get this next question." Just goes to show that he was never really listening to anything I said and I don't think he had any business interviewing anyone. I never officially heard back but the process was a total waste of time and I'm glad I didn't move on. I know I can't speak for the entire company but I would have a very hard time working on a team with the kind of personality that I encountered in just this first interview.
