Holiday Extras – Why Work For Us?

We are building the future of travel

Our people make us who we are. We pride ourselves on being able to offer exciting challenges whilst also providing a flexible, fulfilling environment in which to work. Although we are a fast-paced online travel company with agility and flexibility being key to how we work, our custom built campuses in rural Hythe are a world away from the hustle and bustle of the City.

Holiday Extras' fabulous open-plan spaces have kitted-out meeting rooms, shared work areas, quiet areas as well as kitchens and canteens where you can break out to play pool or table tennis. Or if the weather is good you can chill outside on a Holiday Extras deck chair in summer.

The team like our campus so much it's almost a shame to take advantage of our flexible working approach which lets you work anywhere with your Apple Mac, any hours so long as you're contactable. Our Learning Academy, quiet lounge, supportive enviroment and focus on personal development help our team members grow. Add in days off on your birthday, summer BBQs, sportsdays and our annual paper-plane competition and you have no reason at all not to take a look!

About Holiday Extras

The company's Group CEO, Matthew Pack, is committed to the vision of hassle-free travel. Since taking on the role of chief executive in 2009 - then Group CEO in 2015, he has inspired the Holiday Extras team to explore increasingly creative and innovative directions, across all areas of the business.

Build Your Career

Onsite Learning Academy

We want our team to learn! Thats why we’ve built an amazing Learning Academy. Four innovative spaces to help our team collaborate, innovate and learn, learn learn. We have a quarterly calendar which has all L&D activity, including regular groups like our Coaching Clinic and Book Club and monthly Masterclasses to build skills

Personal development plans

Your learning is always tailored to you. Each person has a personal development plan so that you can always achieve your best.

Mentoring and coaching

Our learning isn’t just formal. Every day you’ll have the opportunity to learn from your expert team mates through mentoring and coaching.

Conferences are key to everyone’s development. We want to know what’s happening out there so we can stay ahead of the game. We attend and speak at conferences all over the country and overseas.

We love conferences so much that we run our very own! At these events we share knowledge, best practices and the latest trends in tech and travel.

Meet ups

We don't just share knowledge internally but hold regular meet ups for the region (and beyond!) at our main campus.

Buzz sessions

We all like to know what’s happening around the business, so fortnightly – sometimes more often – we have the opportunity to listen to what other teams are up to and how they are contributing to the success of the business. Great opportunities to catch up on where we are with our strategy and trading too. It feels good to be well informed.

The customer is at the heart of everything we do. To gain a greater understand of their needs, we send our guys off to the airports, so they get a real insight into the products we sell and how we can delight our customers. Of course, it’s not all learning: there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy breakfasts, lunches, dinners and drinks laid on by our lovely hotels too.

Our people make us what we are.

We have an awesome bunch of talented individuals who are given the freedom to experiment, innovate and make a real difference. People are at the core of everything that we do.

Our values!

I have been working at Holiday Extras part-time (More than 3 years)

    * I can discuss so many pros of working here! The culture is to work hard in an enjoyable atmosphere, with colleagues who (On the whole) embrace change and are keen to improve and develop - leading to a fairly fast paced atmosphere that is fun and lively.
    * I have never worked somewhere that is as flexible and supportive; I work part-time and am able to flex my hours to suit my family and other commitments, with no fuss. The level of trust is just great.

    * Salaries are not the best but more than made up for by work-life balance and working atmosphere.
    * Can be difficult in regards to career progression, options are limited in my area but not necessarily in all areas within the business. However, I have managed to expand my role and responsibilities as I identified I wanted more challenge. You are given the opportunity to step up.

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Holiday Extras (Hythe, Kent, South East England, England) in February 2017.

Group presentation of who we would deal with a given scenario related to holiday extras, followed by a technical test and an interview. Everyone is extremely friendly and approachable, the interview was very casual and used competency based questions.
