When we launched in 2016, UK renters were struggling to pay large deposits, leaving landlords with rising void periods. In addition to this, the Government deposit schemes and insurance policies of the time simply weren’t benefiting either party — often leaving landlords or tenants out of pocket.
We thought there was a better way. Our vision is to make every rental experience a positive one.

We believe renting should be more affordable and accessible for everyone. For a long time, deposits were the only type of rental security that could be trusted. With only five weeks worth of protection and an average two-month waiting time to release cash for end of tenancy charges, landlords were finding deposits slow, inadequate and outdated.
Deposits are expensive too. Tenants are spending an average of £3,350 on moving costs, and most are having to pay a new deposit before they get their old one back.
Our founders were determined to change the UK lettings system, joining forces and bringing mountains of expertise across product finance and engineering to rethink the way we all rent. We’ve developed an innovative rental solution that gives landlords up to double the protection alongside significantly lower move-in costs for tenants.
We’ve built a core team we are proud of, raised significant investment capital, partnered with the UK's largest independent letting agency and continued to grow despite the pandemic – so we’re extremely excited about where flatfair is headed. We love what we do, and we want our employees to feel the same.
