Pros

The office was nice - that's about it.

Cons

Too many to list. If you want a stain on your CV, this is the job for you. I (and likely hundred of others) have regretted this move and the fact that I believed the blatant lies during the hiring process and the fake reviews on here. A few quick things to consider: - The turnover here is atrocious. I've seen people move from successful roles due to the promise of this company, and then be fired on their first day. Have a look over their previous employees on LinkedIn and message them for their feedback. - The practice of 'Breaking People' and their value of 'Radical Candour' are both a smokescreen for consistent bullying. - If you can't hack working 12 hours a day all week, then try keeping up with the work at the weekend. If you can't, you will be singled out on the Monday morning report and called in for a 'chat' at the beginning of the week. - Management and the senior employees have a ludicrous degree of arrogance and if you are not part of the 'in crowd' then your days are numbered. - You aren't given the freedom to actually sell, that is reserved for the senior team only. Instead you will spend all of your days on the phone calling as many people as you can and praying that your 'talktime' will be high enough to not get reprimanded once they release the report at the end of the day. Unfortunately, if you value any form of job security or mental wellbeing then this isn't the place for you.

Alpha Group Response

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry you had a negative experience whilst working with us. Ultimately, we accept that a career at Alpha is not for everyone. The ambitions we’ve set as a team do require high performance levels, and when you first join, this can be hard work to begin with. However, if we were to compromise these standards and shy away from candid feedback, we would not be the fast growing business we are, and would not be able to provide the opportunities we do in terms of progression, earning potential and equity. We do not however expect (nor encourage) anyone to work 12hour days and weekends to try and meet these standards: it’s not sustainable and is the exact opposite of our ‘work hard, live well’ principle. We agree with your suggestion for candidates to reach out to former colleagues. We’d also encourage people to reach out to those who have remained with us to get their perspectives too. As a company, we strive to give people the best possible understanding of our expectations, culture and environment before they start, but we also find that hearing from and engaging with employees first-hand can be invaluable. If there is anything we can do to support you now or with your next career move, please don't hesitate to get in touch at hr@alphafx.co.uk – whilst we may not have been the right fit at this point in time, we have great respect for anyone who has worked with us and would love the opportunity to support you in your next move.

Pros

Some impressive members of the team

Cons

- Working hours beyond ridiculous - You don't need to work 12+ hours every day as well as be expected to work weekends to be successful in this industry. - Anything said in confidence to senior members of staff in meetings will be relayed immediately to Morgan (CEO) and used against you. Often resulting in a sacking. One must keep any negative feelings to oneself or risk being apprehended, not too dissimilar to those speaking out against the regime in North Korea - People will be hired from other companies solely for their book of clients, then sacked for "not fitting in with the culture" - In my time there I saw complete databases of direct competitors which could only have been obtained by former employees of said competitors. - Avoid working over the weekend at your peril - You will be lambasted for lack of effort. - Every single negative review on Glassdoor has been pushed down the list by fake reviews highlighting the positive aspects of the company - The CEO even asked people to write reviews in order to push down the negative ones. - If the CEO or his inner circle don't take to you after day 1, your days are immediately numbered; no matter how much money you may make them. - Large deals are done by members of staff then that member will be sacked before they are paid. - Tread very very carefully when considering employment here; you will be sold the dream but churned out faster than you could ever imagine; without rights and pay. Some great people there but a career in this industry is more enjoyable elsewhere.

Whilst we will always respond to feedback that has been left in good faith, we are aware that this is originally one of 3 reviews left between the 13th and 17th September that has been coordinated by a competitor. If you are considering working at Alpha and would like a true reflection of what it’s like to work here, you can message any of our employees at random via LinkedIn. All our employees also have their email addresses on their profiles to this effect.

Pros

None, potentially compensation if able to close deal in over commoditized industry

Cons

- faulty hiring process with plenty of white lies and half truths - long hours with lying about it in the interview process. Not 9-6 not even 7-7 because if you don't work on weekend you're not working enough - toxic office culture with no team atmosphere and backstabbing. Either their truth or you are out - most of the negative reviews on glassdoor ARE TRUE - management and small group (about 5) are the only ones really happy with this place and berate the rest of the team - do not try to bring new ides or even worse, question the way things are done (even when they can be improved)
