Pros
At least on the surface, a real attempt at helping people through social housing Efforts made towards improving workplace environment Environmental ethos in terms of building new houses sustainably My manager was really great, though most managers were really not good. Amazing sick-leave policy and generally felt like Bromford would take care of you if bad times fall upon you (never had something like this happen to me fortunately but it did feel like they would care and support you)
Cons
Overworked, poorly paid 'lower down' staff Increasingly insistent on working at the office, even if that means working there on your own with very little integration with colleagues (to the point of tracking your lanyard tap-ins at the door) Doesn't feel like Bromford empowers its tenants, but instead generates repeated cycle of unemployed people with no incentives to work (and therefore lose their cheap rent) so begs the question of what Bromford stands for / how they help the world (this coming from someone who strongly supports council housing and social welfare)

Pros
Flexible working, does what it says on the tin. Enabling you to take some control of your work life balance. Great people, the employees at Bromford are genuinely incredible, helpful, hardworking and welcoming. Good range of benefits and rewards. Training opportunities available and lots to access on the hub. Nice offices. Middle management are brilliant, SLT disconnected. With only a couple of exceptions.
Cons
Parking is a nightmare. Lots of change and restructuring taking place within the business which causes concern and instability. Staff leaving due to lack of transparency on what’s going on. Communication, specifically SLT down is minimal and one way. Don’t feel engaged or that you have any input or voice. Often falls on deaf ears. No consultation. Due to this staff morale is impacted. Short staffed within certain teams, is causing issues with work loads, lack of opportunity in certain teams due to lack of recruitment or simply not filling vacancies. This leads to lack of progress options within teams, no career opportunities within existing teams. All negatives easily fixed but to deliver transformation you need excellent communication, transparency, buy in, and staff.

Pros

Cons
Management very poor no back up lie to your face tells more lies to get there self out of trouble, people beneath them have no trust and no respect.

Pros
Friendly team, coffee card for field based workers, supportive middle management that are trying their best.
Cons
Bromford has become a toxic place to work over the last couple of years and it's been sad to watch this happen. Front line colleagues carry a huge amount of pressure and are held accountable but customers but don't have the resources to back them up and fulfill their roles. It seems impossible to get things resolve at times. Middle management are trying their best to support colleagues but when there are issues that need escalating, they receive no support from SLT. This has resulted in many front line colleagues feeling unheard, frustrated and backed into a corner, deciding to leave instead. Senior leaders encourage colleagues to be honest but when they are they aren't listened to or responded to. Bromford advertise the idea of flexible working but in reality this is difficult because workloads are so unrealistic. Bromford talk a lot about personal development and growing their own but there are very few opportunities and more recently any opportunities that do arise seem to be filled by friends of senior leaders rather than the right person for the role. It's only since leaving bromford that I've realised how toxic it has become and also what a negative impact working here had on my mental wellbeing and personal life.

Pros
Flexible working isn’t just a ‘fad’ or something to entice people in - it’s actively encouraged and helps us manage our work life balance fairly. No job is perfect, but having this flexibility to fit work around my life (and not the other way round) means that the job is almost perfect for me! My team is great - I’m proud to call them not only teammates but friends and we all pull together to get the job done Career progression opportunities are great too - for example the ATP talent progression programme which anyone can apply for. I’m looking forward to joining the next cohort for this programme. Spacious and well equipped offices make the days when I’m working in the office a pleasure. I tend to do 2 days a week in the office and little touches like free breakfast and free drinks make it even nicer. The business constantly asks for feedback and I feel the results of this are always looked into (if not actioned where applicable), I get the sense they are always striving to make Bromford a great place to work. People are very quick to leave negative reviews, but I personally love working for Bromford. Yes there are pros and cons (as there will be with any job), but I truly feel Bromford have my best interests at heart. Bromford are very fair to its employees and customers and I think you’d be hard pushed to find an employer as flexible and as forward thinking as Bromford, I have never been in a company with these kind of benefits and I genuinely think we are looked after really well.
Cons
Parking can sometimes be an issue at offices The new system implementation could have been smoother but show me any business that has done this without a few hiccups and I’ll eat my hat!

Pros
Could be a great job with amazing customers if we could just get it right.
Cons
Lack of communication between teams makes the job extremely hard and lets down the customers. Compared to other housing associations the wages are poor and many long term NC’s are leaving and taking their wealth of knowledge with them because they have had enough of chasing their tails.

Pros
The memories of great staff and culture
Cons
It's been very sad to see the decline at Bromford, but it really is the most toxic place to work and i would recommend that everyone avoids it like the plague. As a social housing provider it should be focused on the customer and ensuring everyone has access to a decent home. Instead it's about the CEO and directors taking home big salaries and boasting that they have a big monopoly set! The old boys club is rife and unless you're a yes man, you stand no chance. Middle management are frazzled from being in the middle of staff trying to do their best and senior leaders who are about their own ego and not interested in doing the right (or professional) thing. If you value your mental health, please don't go here. I and many of the other people that have left since the merger feel broken - it's not until you work somewhere else that you realise how abusive it is as an employer.

Thank you for taking the time to add a review for us and is disappointing that you feel Bromford has declined. Our core business is to continue to ensure that the customer is at the heart of everything that we do. Although there have been changes post merger, our strategic aims, core purpose and responsibilities as a housing provider are clear and transparent for colleagues and customers alike. Our Great Places To Work survey indicated that internally, trust in our leadership and our vision has improved and there are several leadership competencies that everyone with line management responsibilities has to adhere to.
