Pros

Beautiful building and setting, reasonable commute. Decent salary and benefits.

Cons

Incompetent and/our unqualified people in many of the leadership and management roles compared other research institutes and organizations. Lack of transparency and communication about how decisions are made. Input and suggestions from employees not usually solicited or valued. While I worked there management decided to spend a ridiculous amount of money to renovate a portion of a building that had been a study for scientists and turn it into a new office for the new CEO, when there was already a perfectly adequate CEO office in existence.

Pros

The buildings are architecturally beautiful, set up on a hill with an amazing view of the bay. Parking is easy and the commute from Marin or SF is easy. The work being done in the labs is interesting.

Cons

There is no understanding from the management about the resources it has a responsibility to maintain, in both people and assets. Large layoffs with no plans for operational continuity have left many still there with poor morale and a defeatist perspective. The old Russian axiom 'they pretend to pay you and you pretend to work' appears to be how the staff operates.
