I have been working at Capgemini Invent full-time

    Pros

Supportive nature, truly. When a family crisis - a life and death event - I was given compassionate leave and full support by my bosses and everyone in my team.

Compare that to uni where I was told that I couldn't go back for my parent's funeral and I had to continue with exams or previous jobs where I had to just 'compartmentalize and never talk about it'. Odd that in this day and age, this should be such a major plus, but it is.

Also, the project I'm working on is terrific, the opportunities to be creative are actually surprising for a corporate position. And the new acquisitions of innovation consultancies (cringe-worthy name but awesome people to expand your network with, in this good moment for London start-ups).

Pay's also excellent given the hours you're asked to work. For a 9-6 with a supportive culture, you're getting extremely well-compensated.

    Cons

Some colleagues get tagged on sub-par projects - I was lucky enough to get on a stunning one first time, but it often feels like a flip of the coin (as with most consultancies).

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid of genuine, ground-breaking innovation in the firm, as opposed to marginal steps forward. We're lucky in that we've actually acquired firms who sort of 'get it', but it feels that we sometimes sell great creative advice but don't use it internally.

    Pros

Great work environment. Great collaborative spirit and team spirit. Focus on Digital and Innovation. Nice balance between strategy level and ops level - Ideal for "Bridge Builders". Good opportunity for competency development. Meritocracy culture.

    Cons

The least apparent internal structure can cause some inefficiencies. Ad-hoc internal processes not so structured. Market approach might overlap between teams. Pay slightly below other players

I worked at Capgemini Invent full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great set of people to work with. I worked on many projects away from home, and I wouldn't have been able to stay for as many years as I did without friendly and outgoing colleagues.
Progression is great if you demonstrate your ability to senior leadership through client delivery and internal work.

    Cons

As with many consultancies, you are expected to be on client site for most of the week. This can have an impact on work/life balance, especially if the clients are around the country, or, in my case, overseas.
The company works in silos, with the consultancy arm often competing with, rather than working with, the other business units.

    Advice to Management

Continue on the path towards developing true end-to-end delivery, with more focus on the strategic direction of clients.
