Seasonal Fresh Associate - Physically demanding but also pretty easy. For what it is, it's a decent job. - Seasonal Fresh Associate Amazon Employee Review

Pros

Pays above minimum wage. The people are generally nice, though you typically don't talk a lot. The hours can go by somewhat fast when you work quickly. While it's been tedious at times, sometimes it's been almost fun trying to beat my own grocery picking rate. Given it's a labor job in a warehouse, it could be worse overall. It's decent in that sense. It's built more like a grocery store inside a warehouse, and without any customers in it.

Cons

Supervisors are adamant about fast grocery picking rates (Amazon probably forces them to be). They want numbers and have high standards. Once you get the hang of it, picking is easy and almost fun, but it really is a lot of walking. The rate system seems overly simplified. Is it purely based on how many items you pick? Rather than item weight, location, etc.? Some of your rate feels like it depends on luck. The freezer turns my fingers into icicles. It's manageable, but also a constant battle. This is probably the biggest con and the closest reason I've considered quitting. HR policies seem rigid. Couldn't change shift for 3 months, no employee discount as a seasonal associate.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
