Pros

Avis is a long established company with many great employees who believe in the brand and servicing their customers. Perhaps one of the best known brand names in the world, it immediately commands respect when dealing with customers and clients. Despite a lack of leadership (not management, the company has many effective managers of costs), a great many of the employees work toward a common goal of excellence.

Cons

Because of a short sighted focus on increasing immediate shareholder value, rather than longer term picture of customer satisfaction to drive future revenue growth, customer service gets short changed. Too often, good customer focused intiatives never get a chance because of the cost. As a result, competitors continue to increase market share.

Pros

I've been with Avis Budget Group for 16 years, and one of the biggest reasons I've stayed is the opportunity for growth. I've had multiple promotions throughout my career because the company has consistently been willing to invest in people who work hard, take ownership, and deliver results. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work interesting. I've had the chance to lead teams in multiple markets, work alongside talented leaders, and continually develop new skills. The business is fast-paced, but it gives you the opportunity to make decisions, solve problems, and have a real impact on both customers and employees. I've worked with leaders who genuinely care about developing talent, and many of the people I've worked with have built long-term careers here. If you're willing to put in the effort, there are significant opportunities to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility. The company also continues to invest in new technology and operational improvements, making it easier to serve customers and support employees.

Cons

Like any customer-facing operation, there are busy periods that can be demanding, especially during holidays and peak travel seasons. Success requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs. The pace isn't for everyone, but for people who enjoy problem-solving, leadership, and working in an environment where every day is different, those challenges become opportunities to learn and grow.
