Pros
Pays well- requiring very little to no experience and education for most positions and opportunities for overtime.
Cons
They don’t really treat you like a person. They are only focused on production numbers. They take some shortcuts when it comes to safety. You work a 12 hour shift and you can’t have water at your desk- and you can really only use the bathroom, hydrate or eat during your break. Breaks are not long- 15/30 however it takes about 5-7 minutes to walk across the manufacturing floor to leave the work area, take off your PPE. So that 15/30 Minute break runs really tight… very strict attendance expectations! The plant I worked at reprimanded for employees not arriving to shift on time during the middle of an active tornado alert. If you want to use vacation time (PTO), you have to find someone to cover your shift. If nobody wants to cover, and usually they don’t, you don’t get your pto approved.
