Cons
Leadership is plagued by nepotism and subpar individuals in market companies. Internal promotions rare, with most individuals having to apply for "the next step". Progression is plagued by "time served" in role, rather than by ability. Meritocracy does not exist at Diageo. Because company is FTSE 100 (10) company, they have very little appetite to fight for good employees who are wanting to leave (as they know they can replace individuals quickly) resulting in employee churn and a real risk to information retention.
