I have been working at Diageo

    Pros

Unique in how the company and people care about the performance we deliver, the inclusion of all employees plus the impact on communities and society. Genuinely have freedom to determine the impact you want to have, the way you want to work, and to try out new ideas and build your career. Working with such iconic brands you feel privileged and excited every day to be holding the torch for their future. A globally... connected company, that despite its size is only 30,000 people means it feels like a real community and somewhere that is both ambitious and incredibly fun to work at with people you care about.

    Cons

It is good to see the business making changes in areas that are needed. Being less internally focused and more geared to customers and consumers will make sure we focus on the things that are fewer and most important, and remove some unnecessary complexity that has increased over time by being too inward looking. Also because it has been so internally driven for so long it can be hard to sometimes see that changes... being made in the company are not only essential, they are being driven (often far harder!) in most other companies in order to stay competitive in this fast changing world. Need to keep doing more to bring the outside world in to keep perspective on what is truly important.

I worked at Diageo full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great purpose, energy and passion

    Cons

Just doesn't pay enough, has great perks but it just doesn't work for you if the primary benefit is so much better for everyone else... This is especially coupled with the fact that real opportunities still don't seem to be fully allocated based on merit... Also worked a lot of hours on top of this which was just the normal

    Advice to Management

Keep the unique culture and channel the unbelievable passion and energy of people into more meaningful work for everyone

    Pros

Brands are amazing to work for, global business strategy is working very well. Total remuneration package is brilliant.

    Cons

GB market has a poor culture. Lots of change for the worse in the name of cost cutting but not thinking about the impact on staff morale and enjoyment

I worked at Diageo full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great pension and benefits if that's all you care about

    Cons

The place is full of company men who've been there 100 years. If you want any hope of promotion be ready to get forced into a job you dont want after the annual restructure - you might start on a role you love but don't count on keeping it for long. Flexible working just ends up meaning you work all the time. Huge but inefficient corporate infrastructure means you never get to even see any HR people and forget... getting IT issues fixed.

    Stop restructuring every five minutes
