Pros
- My options were limited after a career break, and at the time this was the surest and quickest way for me to get back into work - I felt well supported by the trainers and people who ran the program. They were keen to see me succeed - I got exactly what I needed out of the programme & placement and was able to find a very good job afterwards
Cons
- I really didn't like the company that I was placed with and knowing that I was probably going to be stuck with it for 2 years was fairly soul destroying - I had got to the point that I was so desperate to get back into my old career that I'd have pretty much worked for free. I therefore willingly accepted the poor pay & conditions. However, I could never shake off the feeling my situation had been taken advantage of and exploited even though I was grateful of the opportunity - FDM consultants are much cheaper than permanent employees for companies, which means that you have to work hard to get their respect
