Pros
I've been working at GDS for over 3 years and I have every intention of staying. It's hard work and it's challenging but above all it's rewarding. I've seen all sorts of people come and go, nowhere near on the scale of turnover that some previous 'reviews' suggest, and consistently it's the good people that make it here and succeed. If you are an average performer then you’ll be pushed to become great. If you are a poor performer you will be pushed harder to improve because GDS isn't an environment where poor performance or poor attitude is tolerated. This is one of the many reasons I like working here, I don't want to work with under-performers, I want to work with great people, those who are talented but also possess a determination to continue developing themselves. Some of the recent reviews on here are immature and some are completely unfounded. Management are firm, fair and very approachable and they are one of the many reasons that I am still here. The outlook for the business is strong, the implementation of EPPs has continued to ensured our summits are at the forefront of the events business, and the clients we work with and our repeat business stats are testament to that. Turnover could be improved but it is lower than the industry standard, and in my time here we haven’t released any BDEs from Bristol based on performance alone. Any BDEs that have struggled in their role but demonstrated the attributes GDS value have been offered and accepted alternative jobs in the business, we’ve even on occasion created brand new roles that will utilise their strengths, something which says a tremendous amount about GDS as an employer.
Cons
It's fast paced, and some people will struggle with delivering both quality and quantity at speed.
