Pros

some of the people you work with are the only pros of working here and the free tea, coffee, milk and fruit.

Cons

This company, GDS Group has seen its success thanks to its sales approach. They take an aggressive approach, absolutely nothing wrong with this, when done in the correct way. Unfortunately GDS Group do not do much in the right way. Their approach and practices would not be welcomed or recognised within the sales sector or any other sector for that matter. I would strongly advise you to do some research on this company before accepting a role here, because it does have a very bad reputation. Reach out to some of its employees or better still, you might get a better view if you ask some former ones. Neither the customer or the employee are valued by this company which seems to be driven by greed. A lot of the senior team have worked for GDS for a very long time and rather than applying that experience and sharing it in a positive way they seem to be very protective of their own positions and push out anyone new coming in. Having new perspectives and ideas is never a bad thing but at GDS is best to not share any of your own ideas of opinions. GDS work with some well known brands which was one of the reasons I thought they must be credible, but this just acts as a smokescreen to how GDS really operate. I don't fully understand how they achieve repeat custom either, but they do, but they also have a LOT of unsatisfied customers - this also rings alarm bells and you should take note of this too. you could also approach some of their customers and ask what they think of GDS. GDS Group aggressively hires people who are seen merely as just a number and they do not care about their people. They do not look after their employees, they do not care about their customers, they break a number of confidentiality and data practices, they will promise you training and development which you will not receive, they have little to no sympathy for anyone who may be struggling with personal problems and they have absolutely NO integrity. So please ask yourself - why would you want to work for a company like this? I know people do, because sometimes you just need a job! But if you have a choice - don't choose this one! I would strongly ask yourself to think about why you would want to work here. There are lot of other opportunities out there, especially at the moment. This company is a very bad example of how to run a business and will not give you the real experience of a company that truly cares for its people. You will not get job satisfaction here. DO NOT start your career here it will not be a good reflection on what to expect from an employer. DO NOT continue your career here, they do not value or understand experience or skills. DO NOT make the mistake I and many others have. I hope this review is not removed, and hope that this can be of real value to someone making the decision when choosing whether or not to come and work for GDS. Because this is one of the very few reviews on here about GDS Group and what it is really like to work for this company. Please do not be fooled by the positive ones - some are possibly genuine, but the majority are not.

Thanks for taking the time to offer feedback. Firstly, since you note you are a current team member at GDS, if you still are, I urge you to talk to a manager about your feelings. We can then work towards some resolutions We have many great opportunities for development and training here, but we also understand sales can be a demanding job. If you are struggling with personal problems, we are here to help support, the door is always open to discuss with your manager or HR directly, you can come and talk to us in confidence. If you have any further ideas around this subject, we welcome input and new ideas. As a forward-thinking vibrant company doubling our headcount over the last 18 months, we try hard to value the importance of learning from our partnerships and employees. Pros

The best thing about GDS was leaving at 5pm

Cons

GDS group recruiters will sell you the dream of fantastic OTE, great incentives, travel opportunity, great company reputation and ethics, and great job security. The sad reality is that none of this is true....drugs are the norm on the GDS sales floor, even endorsed by the CEO who seems to thrive on the wannabe 'Wolf of Wall Street' culture. Staff are trained by GDS management to use illegal practises to gain phone numbers and contact details...including calling company offices pretending to someone else within that same company needing access to intranet and using illegal software that shows name and contact details when looking at a professional's LinkedIn page. You are actively encouraged to lie about who you are and what you do...a number of GDS employees are made to have fake alias's online due to a tarred reputation under previous names. The company are on a constant recruitment cycle, as employees are hired and fired weekly, and the band of cowboys otherwise known as the Senior Management are constantly having to upload fake, positive reviews here in order to absorb the constant flow of honest, negative reviews. The working enviremont is OF COURSE, fast paced and high pressure as any sales enviroment is...what is unacceptable is working within an environment rife with drugs, sexism and something commonly known within the company as 'snaking', a practise where employees actively go out of their way to steal business from one other leading to constant feuds. Multiple articles and C level executives complain about the illegal telemarketing practises at GDS, which are ignored and even threatened. Overall, AVOID AVOID AVOID

Pros

It is possible to earn good money - although incredibly difficult

Cons

I worked for GDS for some time, and eventually left because I didn’t want to be associated with a company that had no moral compass. GDS is an events company that prides itself as a market leader in their field which is ultimately in ‘meet the buyer’ type events. They arrange 2.5 day ‘Summits’ where 65+ executives from brands come armed ready to speak with companies about their top challenges. The brand executives come for free, but the companies wishing to meet them pay substantial sums of money for the privilege (The standard package is around £25K). In order to sell slots to companies, GDS claims to obtain project intelligence from the brand executives about their top 3 challenges. This is where most of the fraud is committed by GDS as most of the project intelligence is either completely fabricated, or, an obsolete project from an old summit that has been regurgitated. The sales campaign starts around 6 months before the summit takes place, and usually there will be around 15 or so brands that sign up at the start. This is not enough to encourage companies to participate, so fake lists are used to make out the summit is not far off being full of delegates. Likewise there will be little (If any) project intelligence, so sales staff are instructed to make up their own. This will be the case right up until a couple of weeks (Sometimes days) before the summit takes place. This dishonesty is not as a result of a few desperate sales staff, it is a company-wide problem starting with the CEO and working down at all levels. The office environment is best described as toxic. If you work at GDS then you can expect to be micro-managed, treated like a child, given little support and basically made you to feel like you are expendable. It is very difficult for any semblance of structure because of constant changing at the whims of management. Drugs are openly dealt in the office and regularly consumed in the toilets. There are undertones of sexual and racial discrimination. The turnover of staff is insane. There is constant back-stabbing, dishonesty, and attempts to steal sales deals. The middle management are largely inept and corrupt. It is true you can earn a lot of money, but this is the exception not the rule.
