Pros
Overall you will learn a lot at Gilead because it’s very lean as compared to big pharma. Big pharma you are limited to you JD with little room for flexibility unless it’s part of your professional development. Gilead allows you to work hard and engage with multiple projects
Cons
Unfortunately there are a lot of cons. The legacy VPs have been in their role too long and are not collaborating with newer employees mainly because of insecurity on their part. There have been a few leadership changes but a major reorganization is way overdue. Poor behavior is awarded it’s funny how the me too movement doesn’t cover women who bully other women in the workplace just to get to the top. Beware there are several female leaders that need coaching on how to work with other women. As for diversity Gilead is really behind the times very very few leaders in the organization that represents the world we actually live in. Unfortunately or fortunately I have a lazy boss that delegates everything so I get great experience but the down fall is work life balance is way off and my boss really hasn’t managed a team before so therefore they are even too lazy to promote or expand the group. The pay is lower compared to Genentech and the stock has suffered so they should adjust they salary package
