Pros
I started working at ICON soon after graduating undergrad (psychology and data science major) as a Clinical Trial Assistant, was promoted to In-House CRA within 6 months, and then promoted again to CRA I. Now I've been a CRA for a year and my COM talks to me regularly about my aspirations. So one of the biggest pros is that there's a lot of room to grow. In the two years I've worked here, between promotions and raises, I've gone from $40,000 to $77,500. For someone with no prior clinical research experience, I'm pleased with this!
Cons
Some months are really busy and you'll have 12-13 DOS and other months you'll be desperate to find visit opportunities and still end up with 3-4. I have also been assigned up to 3 protocols at once for the long-term, which was a lot to manage.
