I have been working at ICON full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Innovative company and great team. Very good company training program. Company was founded on the idea of caring for their employees and quality over quantity, and some of that spirit remains in the form of work flexibility.

    Cons

The steering in company management for escalating in global CRO market by constantly growing (9-10%) while cutting costs without improving infrastructure has sacrificed all caring for employees, making everyone from baseline level to management fully overloaded, giving the impression of always running for to stop fires and lack of control or quality. Also salaries are no longer competitive

    Advice to Management

Recover the foundational spirit of the company, return to quality and people caring

    Pros

Good benefits. Great colleagues. Reasonable salary.

    Cons

No clear career path and lack of clarity from management about opportunities for advancement thus making it difficult to retain good staff.

    Advice to Management

Be more open about opportunities for career advancement (or lack thereof).

    I worked at ICON full-time

    Pros

Good first job after a masters or a PhD. Good place to start an early career in project management.

    Cons

Salary is not amazing but a start. Career progression is very poor. Benefits poor and raises and bonuses are non existent.

    Advice to Management

Look into pay and benefit scheme. You will be able to hold on to staff if you improve these. Turnover of staff to Norvartis will remain high if you don't.

I worked at ICON full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a fantastic place to develop and hone technical analyst and project management skills in a demanding, fast paced workplace. Very collaborative mid-level management with excellent line management capabilities. Ability to take on additional workload and responsibilities to expand and grow professionally.

    Cons

Hours can be long but are (anecdotally) considerably better than other consultancies. Sometimes things just have to get done. Health economics department sits within an arm where senior management doesn't seem to understand consultancy, the demands that can be placed on employees, and appears to value profits over quality of work and clients which the department fights with constantly.

    Pros

Good projects with top clients, lots to learn. Also good exposure to client and excellent location in central London, blackfriars

    Cons

Management is decreasing salaries over time- as people leave, they have been lowering salary levels- this has led more and more people to leave..
