Pros

-Substantial growth within the last 10 years means they're doing something right. There are extremely talented individuals in the firm and I have absolutely developed professionally during my time with Protiviti. -Pay is competitive with big 4 ACCOUNTING salaries (not to be confused with big 4 consulting - see cons for further explanation) -Variety of internal initiatives to broaden your network within the company and develop other skills. The I on Hunger initiative is awesome and a great way to get clients involved for a good cause.

Cons

-The fact that salaries at Protiviti are not commensurate with other consulting firm salaries like Deloitte and Accenture is not an accident. The truth about Protiviti is that most of the projects are not pure consulting - they are internal audit or loan staff projects. IT'S NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT PROTIVITI IS A SUBSIDIARY OF ROBERT HALF (I.E. A TEMP-STAFFING FIRM). As such, Protiviti tends to be on par with other auditors. -Having come to Protiviti from industry, more transparency regarding the likelihood of working on internal audit projects would have been appreciated. Becoming a subject matter expert in Internal Audit wasn't exactly a lifelong dream and it wasn't mentioned AT ALL during the interview process. -Advice to those considering joining Protiviti: Know that this is not true consulting you're getting into. Strongly consider whether you want to spend critical years of your working career developing Internal Audit skills or working on simple loan staff projects. -Extremely expensive health benefits.

Pros

1) Chicago office has a good culture, overall. It’s not perfect but most of the people are great. 2) Work-life balance score has been solid (about 5+ years of insights here) 3) Although it was not great this year, Incentive compensation has overall been pretty good over the course of 5+ years. Much better than big 4 in my experience.

Cons

1) Since 2023, the culture hasn’t been great for a variety of reasons (mainly due to sluggish performance and growing too fast) 2) It feels more like a temporary staffing agency versus a consulting firm for a lot of the time. 3) There has been an awkward push for a return to the office and more business development focus that is in stark contrast to what most Protiviti people value. 4) Most people I talk to say they are not motivated by most of the MDs they interact with (this is significant in my opinion).
