Pros

I was with the company for 7-8 months. I joined the company thinking it will be great to grow with the company who is on the growth path. I understood there will be challenges but I was up for them and I truly wanted to be a contributor towards company's growth. They try to create a good working culture and claim there are no politics etc. I do have to agree that there are some genuine tries to drive the "good culture" but leadership need to pay attention toward the growth opportunities for the employees that too when you are operating from the smaller market. Protiviti claims to be a global firm but many counties and cities are ignored or management hasn't thought through the growth strategy. Protiviti cliams to recruit best people from the market but there are no leadership roles carved out for the senior people. During my time at Protiviti I felt I was a work horse and company really did not bother about my leadership growth. In a small market I felt my career growth was left within the hands of few MDs and favouritism was very evident. I could not care the less to suck to few people to be on their favourite list of people, my performance should speak to the contribution to the firm which was not the case. I wanted to work with leaders who inspire me with the knowledge and quality and I did not feel that way at Protivti. If you truly care about the growth and reputation of the firm be nice with people who decide to leave for any reasons. Have an exit interview in place and address those concerns. Have HR practices in place. I felt like I worked for few MDs not for a global company. My experience was not positive and I got the validation when I was leaving the firm. Please pay attention to the smaller markets. Finding talent is difficult but don't appoint people in leadership roles who are not deserving.

Cons

Poor management, smaller markets are ignored and left within the hands of few MDs who somehow got the positions but did not deserve it. My 7-8 months in the company felt so long and it's a black hole on my resume. There is a reason why they pay more than the market. If money is the only thing you want go for it. If you want growth, leadership, learning...... Think twice when making decision. Protivti, I want you to be successful but please pay attention on these things. My career has been rocky because I left my management job to join you and I was disappointed with the decision I made. I am currently unemployed but I don't look back. I would re-join but you need to clean the house and pay attention to having good leaders.

Pros

1) Chicago office has a good culture, overall. It’s not perfect but most of the people are great. 2) Work-life balance score has been solid (about 5+ years of insights here) 3) Although it was not great this year, Incentive compensation has overall been pretty good over the course of 5+ years. Much better than big 4 in my experience.

Cons

1) Since 2023, the culture hasn’t been great for a variety of reasons (mainly due to sluggish performance and growing too fast) 2) It feels more like a temporary staffing agency versus a consulting firm for a lot of the time. 3) There has been an awkward push for a return to the office and more business development focus that is in stark contrast to what most Protiviti people value. 4) Most people I talk to say they are not motivated by most of the MDs they interact with (this is significant in my opinion).
