- Getting technically promoted in role for engineers is a lot of work (would be easier to shift job and jump into management)
- Often stressful, a lot of pressure from seniors
- Some bad culture higher up, with old outdated beliefs, such as you should be working a certain number of days in the office
- Painful IT issues, slow to update kit
- Lots of corporate BS and buzzwords
- Many meetings which waste your time
- Unethical products, i.e. submarines and across the defence sector
- Unsustainable business / products bad for the climate, which they are making noise about changing but there are elements of performative action rather than real action
- Managers who get promoted into those roles without support, training or experience to help them succeed
- I burnt out some years ago due to the pressure and stress, which they failed to grasp why / the gravity of it
- Lots of bureaucracy
- Everything takes ages to complete/implement
