I worked at General Atomics full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

Good benefits, 9/80 work schedule, it's a job and foot in the door.

    Cons

Hires too many green engineers that rely on the few experienced talent who are under appreciated, burnt out, and haven't left yet.

    Advice to Management

Trim the fat. There are a lot of people that just sit there all day and cause more harm than good and collect a paycheck. Treat your talent better with compensation and listening to their ideas or they will all eventually leave.

I have been working at General Atomics full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Visionary Leadership, Rapid Growth, Privately Held (long term focus), Make a difference quickly, Family friendly work/life balance

    Cons

Assimilation of new people dependent on who your manager is, Rapid growth and dynamic environment is not for everyone

    Advice to Management

Job description "years of experience" should be guidelines, not strict requirements, so you can account for superstars (who are the future leaders); if you hold them back, they'll go elsewhere.

I worked at General Atomics full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Good benefits. Every other Friday off. Seems stable.

      Cons

Location far away from everything. You’ll spend a good amount of your paycheck in gasoline. If weather gets nasty, good luck driving up there. Not too much involvement. You learn by reading in your 9 hr shift...barely some hands-on training.
