I have been working at General Atomics full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    - Excellent benefits - Family owned supports family work life balance - Not much job pressure - Relaxed campuses - Strong business leadership, focus, and strategic vision

    Cons

    - If used to fast-paced environment, this is exact opposite - IT leadership lacks strategic vision; not a collaborative team culture; applications leadership is highly incompetent - Multiple shadow IT groups creates varied customer solutions & service levels

    Advice to Management

    - Expand globally - IT leadership needs a review and rehaul - Venture into commercial products - Incentivize further to attract new talent

I have been working at General Atomics full-time for less than a year

    Pros

very safe, clean, benefits, room to grow

    Cons

"to safe", there can be language barriers, repetitive, very large company

    Advice to Management

create transparency between the departments. Management says I can go look around, but the feeling suggests otherwise.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at General Atomics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Cool product. Fancy office chairs and stand-up desks. Retirement pension.

    Cons

Everything else. Head-in-the-sand mismanaged by departments heads looking to grow fiefdoms. High turnover of lower level employees. Rampant bullying at all levels. Hiring binges to meet exponential growth with no training or mentorship. Poorly implemented internal systems. Lots of blame-shifting and witch hunts instead of process improvement. Why are there so many "directors" and what do they do all day? Pointless... meetings overload but never resulting in actions. Musical chairs with office space and rotting facility infrastructure.

    Advice to Management

Your people are running amok. Loosen the stranglehold on budgets and invest in your workforce.
