Great mission and team to be part of

Pros

Lantern has an amazing mission of enabling positive outcomes for people in need of speciality care. The company started with providing narrow network access for speciality surgery needs and created a successful business model around it. Now, they are expanding in Cancer space as well and genuinely trying to help. The company has faced lots of growth in recent time and while there's growing pains and easy to point problems, I would genuinely commend the leadership team to keep up and trying to match the pace and create a culture to deliver the results needed. From Tech to Ops to Commercial, every department has seen amazing growth and had their fare share of challenges. But I have noticed teams coming together to help, people getting amazing growth opportunities, and company celebrating success and recognizing those who perform well.

Cons

Fast paced growth comes at a cost. Cost of people working too hard and with risk of burn out. Its not everyone's cup of tea and truly only works for team members who are mission-driven and like the challenge. There can be an aura of fatigue or discontent if team members are not conducive to fast paced, mission-driven, growth mindset culture. This is something for the company to consider in the hiring strategy and ensure right skilled people are getting hired.

Great Workplace, Fulfilling Work

Pros

EDH is an amazing place to work, located in downtown Dallas, with a very comfortable, clean, and safe environment. The focus of the leadership team is on sustainable growth and on the company's core mission of making healthcare truly more affordable while increasing quality outcomes. There is a healthy work/life balance that is encouraged, along with a real openness across departments. Employees are encouraged to ask questions to complete objectives, learn and grow their skills and industry knowledge, and take the initiative to solve problems or create efficiencies. The company also tries hard to have the right balance of an inclusive culture while still allowing people the freedom to opt out without stigma. Not everyone wants to have "Field Day" at work. Good benefits, a cheerful HR and IT teams (the two departments everyone works with), and a healthy dose of fulfillment from knowing that the work we do has an outsized positive impact on people's quality of life.

Cons

The downtown location does require you to have to pay for parking.

Pros

fast pace challenging environment that makes room for growth even if uncomfortable

Cons

The politics here can be discouraging. Sometimes feels like you're in a high school setting amongst seemingly adults. The leadership team seems to constantly be flailing trying to place band-aid fixes over drastic issues. Constant loop of stress and anxiety.

Pros

Lantern has a great mission and sustainable business model, which isn't something you see every day in the world of healthcare startups. I genuinely like and trust our leadership team and their vision for the company. We have an amazing team of hard-working people at every level. The marketing team is very supportive of one another and we have an internal culture committee that has launched initiatives to help us get to know each other. I've really enjoyed their programming. Pay is good, and benefits are decent and improving--HR has been listening to employee feedback which is great.

Cons

Like many startups, Lantern can be disorganized and reactionary, but this has improved over the past year. Workloads can be heavy at times, but many in leadership respect work-life boundaries and I believe this is getting better as well.

Pros

This is a mission-driven, high growth company. There are endless opportunities for those who demonstrate they can get the job done. The executive leadership team truly cares about our people, and our mission, and they are the smartest group of leaders I have ever worked with.

Cons

The pace and intensity aren't for everyone. And everyone, no matter the seniority or title, is expected to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.

The Place to Be!

Pros

EDHC is a welcoming environment. Not only do the care about you as an employee, they care about you as a person. For me, this job has given me the perfect work-life balance. As a single mother, I don't feel the usual pressure when I have to miss a day due to my child being sick as I have with other employers. Every day I learn something new from my leadership team. They encourage me to grow and never let me back down from a challenge. I'm grateful for this opportunity and I hope to be here for many years to come.

Cons

The only downside would be compensation. A little bit a pay bump would always be helpful but currently I feel that's the issue with all employers due to the recent increases in the cost to live(gas, food, rent, ect.). Other than that there are no downsides.

Pros

- strong leadership team - consistent but deliberate headcount growth - mission driven - good work-life balance - lots of remote opportunities

Cons

- remote culture/inclusion is still a work in progress (company has shifted from mostly single-city onsite to a significant portion of headcount remote hires over last 2+ years). But, I believe company will get it right.
