Pros
Salaries are reasonable and made more competitive by a solid benefits package. There are good training budgets available, supporting ongoing learning and development. The company also offers hybrid and flexible working arrangements, which help with work–life balance.
Cons
Limited opportunities for career progression and promotion. There is a challenging culture within parts of the engineering organization, where some senior staff struggle with effective and professional communication. Teams are responsible for maintaining a very wide range of products, including significant legacy systems. The company-wide Agile framework feels overly heavy and would benefit from being more streamlined and tailored to the teams directly involved.

Good colleagues to work with and I did learn in the two years I was an employee. However the job is not as described, as a ‘Senior Engineer’ you can expect your day to day duties to be attending data centres moving a switch 2U within a rack etc. ‘IS’ is the more interesting side of the organisation responsible for automation, however the network side are completely segregated from the same. At the end of the day it’s a large layer 2 network, so nothing exciting in that regard.
Cons
Old boys club and an if your face fits culture. There is no real motivation to get anything done, given it’s a membership based organisation, the money comes rolling in. Overly complex ’Agile framework’ designed to manage large software projects, which obviously isn’t applicable here. Completely unfair and biased HR department, which had I wanted to I could have taken legal action against them, but for all the above reasons, they simply were not worth it.
