Pros

NO PRO'S WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY! The work from home is more like work from hell, you never leave your laptop. Unlimited paid time off? How? If you take 1 day, they're constantly sending slacks all day! Zero respect for your life.

Cons

So many con's, where do I begin? For one, management has zero clue how to run a successful company. They are all too busy trying to figure out where to hide the money they're spending. The CEO is trying to relive his younger years, hopping from concert to concert, sporting events, lavish trips, private jets and yachts - ALL ON THE COMPANIES DIME! Other upper management are too busy trying to fix the mess the CEO makes, CHIEF Officers are micro managing, everyone is over worked and extremely unorganized. Instead, to keep employees quiet, they pay for off-sites at very exclusive places around the country. Aspen, Napa, Hawaii.... Buying their silence. Zero communication, you have to basically figure it out as you go. SLEAZY support staff that goes around spreading employees business, on who's drinking or has a substance abuse addiction or who's currently attending AA, sharing how much some are getting paid, who's sleeping with whom, who's the CEO's flavor of the month. etc. Endless zoom meetings that allow you no time to get real work done. Management are all too worried on what the "celebrity" of the company is doing and how to get on his good side. All of upper management talk about one another instead of working as a collaborate team to get this company to a respectable level. They sweep everything under the rug hoping the IPO will go through and they can then steal from their investors. When you question things, they fire you! If you want to live a decent life with zero worry on your mind, RUN from MNTN.

Pros

Remote, some really amazing people, travel allowance

Cons

I waited to post wondering if it mattered, and asked myself was I being mean by sharing a not so great review. At the end of the day, this is just my opinion, so I decided to share a bit. A major struggle is there wasn’t ever any real direction as far as a roadmap or plan to focus on, projects changed daily depending on what discussions took place after “Jedi” meetings. If you were in the circle of those who were trusted and loved, life was great, until it wasn’t. Still not sure when the shift happens, but similar to a light switch, one is beloved, and then let go. Working along side many brilliant people, and for the most part many do want what was best for the company, the problem was that the company wasn’t sure what it wanted. Lots of moving pieces and personalities and not in the way that you’re thinking“maybe you’re just not professionally experienced.” Watching other employees get promoted based on length of time with the company, which part of me gets, but in this day and age it just feels odd, watching incredible employees leave rather quickly after they noticed that there was no way they could grow there, and watching someone who I thought was extremely special get kicked to the curb after one of our quarterly off-sites. They left so quickly, I’m still not sure what happened, but they were unique and seemed to care about others. This place may work for some, if you’re able to put your head down and just get your paycheck, this could work for you. But if you’re in a place where culture matters, morals matter, being authentic matters, you will struggle here.

Toxic Juvenile Company Selling Fake Performance

Pros

Nothing. This company was a disaster from day one. All smoke and mirrors

Cons

Most people working there including the CSuite-started young and have limited outside experience in this space. They hired a handful of people from big tech, however, most big tech people who were hired- left or were let go when they began questioning - or trying to implement anything that would resemble true performance - which is a strong signal of who MNTN is in this space. High employee churn and the engineering team is like 20 people. They also just laid off like 40 people under the term "reorg." The original C Suite spends most of their time trying to protect themselves from anyone who can see they are underqualified to do their jobs through fraternity-style politics and underhanded behavior. The only people who truly liked working there and stayed were the original group from the previous company. They spend most of their time protecting each other. The COO is your typical pompous millennial bro; but with zero tech street cred or any viable business skills who insists everyone agree with him that MNTN is going to be "the next Facebook." Totally insane given MNTN has been around for like 13 years under a previous name and has very few developers or engineers. Most of the staff were customer support and platform specialists and salespeople selling a product they know did not work and had zero confidence in. Constant client complaints about underperformance and over-promising. Clients also questioned the data. Because MNTN gives them no way to do a/b testing there is no way for a client to determine the accuracy of the performance or data. It appeared that they were trying to make as much money as possible off of people who did not know better. They specifically targeted small to mid-sized companies and avoided larger companies who were on to their game. Partners like Hulu and others ended their contracts. Ultimately the company is run by people who are not qualified to lead and operate in this space, Their competitors will surely put them out of business.
