No respect for physicians

Pros

Autonomy of practice. Some reasonable guidelines but mostly free to practice medicine as you see fit. Pleasant and clean working environment.

Cons

Micromanaging every other aspect: documentation, customer service, uniforms, scheduling, contracting etc. 2 year, 10 mile noncompete in their contracts. Comp is below average and no raises. Basically there is one way to do something, and even if they ask for your input, they will not take it. As an experienced, professional physician who has worked in a variety of clinical settings: the atmosphere is stifling. They keep putting new services into place without asking the opinion of the doctors who have already practiced in that field. Management equates physicians with low level techs in terms of employment hierarchy. I do need nurses and techs in order to do my job, but please forgive me for thinking that an MD is worth a little respect. I have spent years studying medical ethics, but the assumption is that I'm lying in any conflict between myself and a tech. Also I get the impression they think I'm going to steal all their trade secrets and patients and open my own urgent care the minute I leave. Please. Any amateur could pick up on all the 'secret sauce' after one visit here. Also talking to the CMO is like talking to a very genteel brick wall. No traction on suggestions or advice or pleas for help. It appears that the VP of Ops (not a doctor) actually runs the company including the physician side.

Pros

Clean new facilities, most MA and RT are super. Great growth potential especially in Dallas Fort Worth Market. WI FI and other patient perks makes this a nice experience for patients

Cons

Promises made from original contract broken, without management giving us much face to face regarding changes. Few "atta boys" instead little support or positive feedback from management. You would think with the growth vector this company has they would move heaven and earth to support their Physicians and Advance Practice Providers (PA/NP) but you see little.

Pros

The only thing I would miss about Medspring are (some of) the people I met while I've been here.

Cons

Too much growth too quickly. Trying to grow without adequate staffing is a horrible idea. Medspring doesn't make any money so start up is right but a lot of the decisions being make are not smart ones but ones made by panicking. You know you have a problem when you have to fly and pay for employees to travel from one state to another to keep a location open. You're paying more in travel expenses than we make an hour; and this isn't a new thing, it has been going on a while. Upper management cannot be trusted. Even HR, which is unreal. A survey was just sent out and so many of us lied about what city we worked in to avoid any possible repercussions. Looking at other reviews, you can see positive reviews are still being done from fhe inside. I wouldn't be surprised if HR and the Leadershp team are trying to get their rating up to try and fix our extreme staffing problems. As far as career growth goes, don't waste your time. You'll either get stuck in a position and have no room to grow or you'll get small incentives or 'promotions' but they'll pay you way less than you deserve for the position. You can see upper management is not being replaced as employees leave so there really is no growth potential. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

MedSpring Urgent Care Response

We are sorry your experience working at MedSpring was a negative one. The leadership team has always been, and will continued to be, very committed to listening to and meeting the needs of our patients, employees and our business to the benefit of all stakeholders. MedSpring is indeed a growing organization and on a trajectory to continue that growth as evidenced by our recent center openings, and additional centers scheduled to be opening soon. We continuously seek feedback from patients and employees via surveys and through other metrics to help understand opportunities to improve and evolve the business in a way that positively benefits all of our stakeholders. With growth comes new and changing job opportunities for employees who are interested in being a part of an evolving and dynamic healthcare company. But such growth is certainly not for everyone. We wish you success in your career and hope that you are able to find a place that meets your goals for a more satisfying work environment.
