I have been working at Mercy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The best aspect of working at Mercy has been the coworkers. Most everyone works together to care for patients within the challenging environment created by administration.

    Cons

Mercy administration is the worst aspect of the company, but this affects all aspects of your job. Priorities are productivity and cost savings (based on their models), and not patient care. The staffing levels are almost dangerously low in every department, and the compensation they offer is as low as possible. It is very difficult to attract good talent, and even harder to keep good coworkers after they acquire experience.

    Advice to Management

People go into health care careers to take care of patients and serve others. People will work hard for you to serve this calling, if you take care of them and make them feel appreciated. When the management mindset is that everyone is replaceable, and better with a cheaper price, patient care suffers.

I have been working at Mercy for more than 5 years

    Pros

The administration is guide by the mission started by Sr. Catherine McAuley.

    Cons

Not always competitive with first offer salary.

    Advice to Management

Remember when staff don't feel appreciated, the mission of Mercy suffers.

I worked at Mercy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

St Johns Mercy and Medical staff historically known for their dedication to patient care

    Cons

Too much of newly created bureaucracy standing between health providers and patients

    Advice to Management

Remember that patients come to Mercy because of doctors who work there

I have been working at Mercy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Move around building a lot. No micromanaging

    Cons

Have to ask critically ill or poor for money

    Advice to Management

It’s common knowledge that only Spg employees get promoted. There is zero advancement opportunity or pay increases at Joplin location. That’s why they can’t keep good PBA’s. Too much work. No incentives.

I have been working at Mercy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Faith Based, Co-Worker family / culture of acceptance, Benefits, Opportunity for Advancement. The Interview process for the position I took was fast, easy and accommodating! Make use of their "Nurse Recruiter" !

    Cons

In general they pay just slightly less than some of their competitors in my career field. This is not always true, and when it is they are still competitive ; but generally speaking its an acknowledged fact.

    Advice to Management

My experience with the management team thus far has been top notch!
