Pros

It used to be the people but they're all gone now

Cons

Useless with money Clueless "Hatchet Man" CFO Projects often scrapped before completion The financial incompetence of the senior leadership would be funny if it didn't affect so many people's lives. Here are some of the conversations they have in the boardroom: "Let's acquire this failed business and then immediately lose interest!" "What does this software project do? Save the business time and improve efficiency? Boring - bin it!" "We can't afford to pay a bonus this year… Let's do it anyway and then make redundancies later!" If you are thinking of joining Mind Gym in CDT, be prepared for stressful work in 1990s technology as the company has failed to invest in modernisation. If you're thinking of joining any kind of digital team, don't do it! They don't value technology and will pull the rug from beneath your feet in time for Christmas.

Pros

I can't think of any pros.

Cons

- no chance for growth, company is stunted as it revolves around the two founders' massive egos - we can't follow the user research, the data, best practice, etc. it all comes down to the CEO's preferences - we work until 6 and the salaries aren't higher to compensate and the benefits are the smallest they can get away with. - no job security, shock redundancies and sackings happen regularly, you never know if you're next. - stuck in the past, scared of proper digital growth, products need to be put out tested and iterated and there's a hesitancy to do this - horrible culture, everyone is unhappy , overworked and miserable here - I've made some great friends, we've all bonded over the MindGym trauma so it didn't seem fair to put this in pros, but some really great people

Pros

Anytime I notice a positive aspect, it’s immediately overshadowed by the next fire that needs putting out. The people are superstars, somehow MindGym continues to attract incredible people who are subjected to the toxic culture.

Cons

Leadership outright ignore what employees tell them is needed for success. Gaslighting is rampant. Turnover. Attrition rates speak for themselves. Commute. Forced to go in to an empty Kensington office twice weekly just to sit on Zoom calls because the Founder won’t embrace remote work or at the very least look into leasing a space closer to actual transport hubs. The Circle Line is not a viable option.

Thanks for taking the time to share your review, I’m genuinely sorry that you feel this way and if you would be open to coming and speaking to me, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns. We are working hard to create a positive culture and take pro-active actions to support all colleagues, but I appreciate that things continue to move fast and we still have a lot to improve. From a leadership perspective, we need to find the right balance for all colleagues. We launched our internal employee survey, CultureAmp, to give colleagues an objective and confidential route to share their thinking. Our approach to hybrid for instance was created to respond colleague requests, resulting in reducing presence from 3 to 2 days per week at the employee’s choice. We are seeing a 9% week on week increase in office attendance and are receiving feedback that employees are valuing the time to collaborate and connect and this is helping us to create a sense of belonging and connectivity. Also we’re bringing our teams together at offsite locations so we can support all teams enjoy time together as colleagues and tap into a collective belonging. Please do connect with me.
