Pros

I've had an amazing time at RG over the past couple of years. Up until the sale to EdenRed, it really was a 5 star company to work for. They genuinely cared about their employees, clients and fully embodied their mission of 'Let's make the world a better place to work'. All of the leadership team genuinely believed in the company values, and operated in accordance with them. Every department has very talented people in it, and the products are pretty solid and always expanding. The clients themselves are, for the most part, pleasant to work with and eager to use our solutions to the fullest, and care about their own respective workforces. I've made some long-term friends at Reward Gateway as well as some great professional connections, and will look back on the majority of my time here fondly.

Cons

The recent changes in leadership, closely tied with the Edenred acquisition back in May, have completely changed Reward Gateway in a very short space of time. Now it seems like the only thing that is important is squeezing as much money out of our clients as possible in the name of 'sustainable profitable growth'. Clients are being quoted huge increases at renewal, sometimes doubling their annual fee (or more), with very little justification for such a large increase. Most of the leadership team (that used to be made up of a diverse and interesting group of individuals) have been replaced with copypaste corporate veterans (most of whom are middle aged white men) who seem to just see RG as another business to squeeze the juice out of rather than an employee engagement leader that drinks its own medicine. The leadership team seem wholly concerned with growing the business as quickly as humanly possible in order to deliver ROI to Edenred after their humongous £1.15 billion purchase, and one wonders whether this 'growth at all costs' approach is sustainable or not.

Pros

The company has a fantastic culture that encourages innovation and initiative. I've worked on a massive variety of projects as well as more than a handful of job titles! We've also hired some of the most fantastic people I've ever worked with and so much of the experience I've gained is through those people. It's come up in a lot of reviews, but it's genuinely true, you make real life-long friends when you work here, as cheesy as that sounds, it makes ALL the difference when you're working in such a crazy and fast-paced environment. I'm proud to say I work at Asperity and have confidence that we will continue to go from strength to strength.

Cons

It is relentlessly busy and things move at the speed of light. If you're looking for a simple 9-5pm, this isn't the place for you. If you thrive on working for a global market leading company and are prepared to work hard, then it's the perfect place!

Pros

There are few but if you are looking for a fun and friendly group of young people to work with, a job here could be good for you. Flexible working hours are great (beware; they can also blur the line of how many hours you actually end of working).

Cons

Albert Einstein was once heard saying that “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new”. Despite being a beautiful sentiment, there must come a time where daring and turns into foolhardiness. The Management Team need only heed the advice of Bert Lance, an experienced mistake maker, who parried Einstein with “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. There needs to be a clear focus and development on the things that DO work before embarking on potentially disruptive ventures to both employees and clients. Err on the side of caution, and engage with your employees on an honest level to establish a robust culture. RG boasts an extensive culture unlike any other- well I hate to break it to you- but there are hundreds of companies who offer stability, job security, better pay, vibrancy and unique values. If you talk the talk, then perhaps it’s best to ‘walk the walk’ and not just present the idealistic values. I stopped counting the amount of times I was told to leave figures off a report to make it look stronger to a client. Reward Gateway employs the best smoke and mirrors to existing and prospective clients to make sure that the external perception of the company is strong. Seminars, Photo-shoots and other such expenses often mask the over-worked employees who are given little progression to look forward to.
