Pros

Travel, flexible hours, working remotely. There are many employees who really care about Rustic's mission, but upper management is another store.

Cons

The company is in financial trouble and goes through repeated periods of laying off and then rehiring. Most people in the Intntl Business Development program over the last few years were laid off without any notice. The company, despite what it will tell you, is all about the bottom line, and presses employees (specifically entry-level positions like mine) to work far more than 40 hours and take on responsibilities outside your job description. Moreover, there is a real lack of diversity and inclusion.

Thanks for providing your input. You’re absolutely right that we got out over our skis during a period of rapid growth. With that growth came a certain amount of unplanned change in our team and how we operate. One thing we realized is that we didn’t have a strong middle layer of managers to sustain and scale the things that make Rustic, Rustic. You deserved better support, and I apologize for the poor experience that you had. The process of change that I orchestrated has been painful for all of us, but necessary for Team Rustic to be stable and strong. If you would like to talk about it more, please give me a call. If not, please know that I wish you all the best. Chris Stakich CEO

Pros

- This organization is filled with some of the best people I have ever met! Every single person who works for this company passionately believes in what we do, and that passion really shows not only in their work, but also in the way they communicate with one another. There's a huge sense of respect for each other, even when people disagree, and that type of work environment is hard to find. - Flexible work schedule and very open to working remotely. Even though most people do work remotely in some way, senior management goes out of their way to bring everyone together throughout the year and to create a company culture that feels cohesive and connected. - Senior management definitely supports a work-life balance and really cares about employees' personal lives in a way that is very rare. - Fast growing company means lots of exciting opportunities and a challenging and exciting work. You need to be flexible, and you need to be ready to jump in and do whatever is needed at times, but it is very rewarding work.

Cons

- Communication across 3 time zones can be challenging...let alone 19! Keeping everyone on the same page can be difficult, though senior management has done a lot to improve this in the past couple of years and is continuing to make positive improvements. - Some roles do involve quite a bit of travel, which can be challenging to balance with personal life. - Salary and benefits are not as competitive as they might be at a bigger company in another industry.

Ideals as an organization are good- execution is lacking

Pros

- Ability to work remotely in many cases - Chance for international travel through program leading and flight leading opportunities - Young, energetic workforce - Overall mission of the organization is something that can inspire you

Cons

- "big picture" of organization often makes it feel like you aren't valued as an individual - General disconnect between upper management structure and employees in lower positions - there are random spurts of progress, but then things get stalled with poor execution or a roll-out plan that isn't communicated from top down - often feels like there are "haves" and "have nots", if you aren't friendly and in the upper echelon of the social structure of the company, it's hard to have your ideas heard or welcomed to conversations - they want to promote the idea that we are one happy family, but the spread out nature of employees and locations of positions really just leads it to a false expectation of company culture

Thank you so much for your feedback! It's certainly a challenge to maintain a remote work environment while still feeling connected to your colleagues and the company. We agree that in person time is so, so valuable. Our management teams are actively looking at ways to provide more opportunities for collaboration and connection.
