Pros

Travel, flexible hours, working remotely. There are many employees who really care about Rustic's mission, but upper management is another store.

Cons

The company is in financial trouble and goes through repeated periods of laying off and then rehiring. Most people in the Intntl Business Development program over the last few years were laid off without any notice. The company, despite what it will tell you, is all about the bottom line, and presses employees (specifically entry-level positions like mine) to work far more than 40 hours and take on responsibilities outside your job description. Moreover, there is a real lack of diversity and inclusion.

Thanks for providing your input. You’re absolutely right that we got out over our skis during a period of rapid growth. With that growth came a certain amount of unplanned change in our team and how we operate. One thing we realized is that we didn’t have a strong middle layer of managers to sustain and scale the things that make Rustic, Rustic. You deserved better support, and I apologize for the poor experience that you had. The process of change that I orchestrated has been painful for all of us, but necessary for Team Rustic to be stable and strong. If you would like to talk about it more, please give me a call. If not, please know that I wish you all the best. Chris Stakich CEO

Pros

Lots of freedom and ability to set my own schedule. Great benefits and travel perks. Amazing people. Our mission is top notch. What we do is so meaningful. Doing it with friendly coworkers makes it even better.

Cons

The pay could be better. The company can be a little scattered at times. Clearer communications and better planning would be much appreciated.

Pros

Worked alongside a genuinely talented (and incredibly nice) group of people that I loved and we were all focused on changing travel and making it aprt of education. In a crowded market, we stood out because we cared about clients and loved them. Really strong mission at its core.

Cons

Can be a bit hectic at times. Team in my country is disconnected from the head office. It is a growing company with a lot of warts but that is all part of the process.

Pros

People actually running programs are the only good part of this company.

Cons

Keeping it short, they pay low wages to local people and do not let women speak freely. At the end of the day, they do not care about the impact they are having as much as how much money they are making. They know about their projects not working as advertised but yet, they continue to do the same thing.

Dear Former Employee, I am surprised and disappointed to read your review. Would you be willing to contact me or our HR team directly about which program you are describing? As an impact and humanitarian organization, this is not the feedback we ever get from local partners, from the schools on the program, or from our Community Impact Team. I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to learn more about what it was you felt and saw on program and as an individual. Our goal is to improve 1% every day and having more specific information will help. Sincerely, Chris Stakich

Dear Former Employee - Thanks for the feedback! I agree that Rustic Pathways is a great place to start your career. This year, we hope to better define a growth path for those who want to grow with the company and contribute in broader ways. As you may have read from some of the other reviews and my responses, we are working to become a stronger and more mission-centric company all around. If you have additional specific feedback on ways we can improve, please do not hesitate to reach out to me personally or to our HR team. We work very hard to get better by 1% every day and the more specifics we have on how to improve, the more we can improve. Much thanks, Chris Stakich CEO
