I have been working at Songkick

    Pros

Amazing people working as a team in a fast moving and ambitious company. Songkick really wants to better the music industry and make an impact. The company provides a great opportunity to work alongside some very intelligent, motivated and hard working people.

    Cons

It can be tough to keep up with the fast pace, but as long as you stay motivated and work hard to show value then this is not an issue. Some people enjoy a calmer work place and ethic which is understandable.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the vision to change the industry, and know that the team supporting you is motivated to get us there!

I have been working at Songkick full-time

    Pros

This is one of very few startups trying to solve an actual business challenge and consumer challenge. If you look around the startup scene here in London, that is actually pretty rare. So what you build, and what you do here is what you make of it. You have to be a self starter.

    Cons

    - Communication across multiple locations (New York to London) is always difficult - There are still some old practices that don't belong in a startup

    Advice to Management

    - Start iterating quicker and focus more on the product. Don't be afraid to let the more junior employees build things faster and better than the more tenured employees.

I have been working at Songkick full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Getting to come to work every day with an intelligent, thoughtful team who care about our mission. Open and collaborative atmosphere with a strong culture of empowerment for teams and individuals. Flexible work environment, strong professional development, great people, great products, great offices!

    Cons

With a growing team our London office is starting to feel a little cramped, also there aren't enough whiteboard markers.

I have been working at Songkick full-time

    Pros

By far the best part of working at Songkick were the people. The small team came to feel like family, with respect and honesty being values demonstrated from the top-down. Where the company made mistakes or hit pitfalls, these were very frankly yet sensitively explained to every employee, leaving us feeling that we were respected and included in all parts of the company. In the office, the fully-stocked fridge... provided easy (and healthy) lunch options and a "home-kitchen" feel as people gather round the table or oven. Everyone is seated in a beautiful open-plan environment with easy access to any collaborators or management. The benefits/perks offered were impressive for such a small company. This included unlimited holiday (born out of the intrinsic trust for employees), equal fully-paid maternity and paternity leave, competitive salaries, all food/drink, summer festival trip and monthly gig ticket budget. Regular 1:1s and reviews left employees confident about the level at which they were performing.

    Cons

With everybody speaking on Skype and listening to music, the office can feel intimidatingly quiet when you remove your headphones. Certainly, when turning up for an interview, this was a little eerie. In such a small company, it could feel for some employees that career advancement opportunities are limited. On the flip-side, the company was always open and willing to discuss salary raises and any career... concerns.

    I worked at Songkick

    Pros

Working at Songkick was a great experience. The office was a fun place to be and laid back. The perks were amazing and I felt pretty spoilt every day. The work could be challenging but makes you feel important and part of the team.

    Cons

Although everyone is friendly, it can feel a bit 'clicky' and difficult to become fully accepted.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Songkick full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Poster-child company for London's Tech City / Silicon Roundabout. Very well connected, savvy and often inspiring management, all star investors. Employees kept in the loop weekly with business decisions/issues, participative/open culture. Exciting industry. Top-notch startup-type work environment / perks / atmosphere (Macs, couches, free food, cocktails, concerts, pub/movie nights..)

    Cons

Significant technical debt in some places (company started in 2007) that makes many tasks immensely tedious (almost no cloud-based infra for instance). Thus, not moving nearly fast enough implementing new features, many people with strong academic backgrounds spending lots of time over-intellectualising decisions.. A few people insisting on levels of process that have no place in a startup.

    Pros

Fun place to work and cool opportunities to be apart of. A young environment with opportunities for growth if you get in with the right people.

    Cons

There were a lot of changes within the company and a lack of visibility for employees.
