I worked at Virgin Media full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

VM gives the opportunity to work in various divisions.
    Great training and qualifications provided.
VM are very considerate when it comes to work life balance.
    Great company perks.

    Cons

VM goes through a restructure at least once a year which can make you feel that you will be made redundant. Having said that I lasted 8 years thank fully.

I have been working at Virgin Media full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good incentives
    Life insurance
    Bupa healthcare
    Dental cover
    Team spirit

    Cons

Can be a challenging and stressful environment
    Adherence and productivity HIGHLY monitored
COMS and TMs tend to support friends and family more within the workplace especially towards career progression

    Advice to Management

Be fair when opportunities arise for career progress and don’t limit it to friends and family
Don’t just focus on the negatives focus more on the positives and how the staff that are stuck on calls beyond their shifts stay behind to ensure customers are fully satisfied with the resolution.
Ensure that staff are recognised for their hard work in Q awards etc as many many people are not being even given a pat on the back for their hard work, attitude, behaviours for the benefit of the company
Cut people a bit of slack for being 1 minute late restringing from breaks and not be so quick to issue late forms as this is demotivating to staff as are all aspects of these points raised

I worked at Virgin Media full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Meet lots of new people,
Freedom to do your own jobs.
Some good techs aslo good people in the company generally. Very approachable

    Cons

    Bad management in South Yorkshire.
Not enough resources put into the network. Over selling on capacity with bad infrastructure. Sheffield network is rubbish, out of sheffield it's better.
Management arnt interested in improving the situation. Never any budget to fix real issues

    Advice to Management

Help your technicians out. Speak up to higher management and defend your engineers, don't just hide away and not speak up for a easy life.

I worked at Virgin Media full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good perks to the working here such as employee discounts. Everyone in my team where great people and always trying their best for customers . Good clear reporting lines.

    Cons

Work life balance is a word used but never acted on. Constant requirement to be contactable 6 days a week 10hours a day. Unrealistic targets set. Removed from annual bonus scheme. Pay isn’t competitive and no real chance to enhance earnings. So much employee turnover you never had stability

    Advice to Management

Listen to front line staff and act upon survey results

I have been working at Virgin Media full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The salary and benefits are good. I found this out because I am desperate to leave and am finding it difficult to find similar roles locally with the same rewards.

    Cons

Having said the above pay rises and bonuses since I joined have been rubbish.

I am desperate to leave because of what the place has become in the past 2 years. It is an awful environment with constant pressure and institutionalised incompetence.

Senior Management is to blame. They are out of touch with their workforce. While they are trying to improve "engagement" they are doing the wrong things and staff apathy shows in "all hands" calls.

    Advice to Management

The senior manager peacocks need to learn some humility. The environment is bad, the wor is pressured and the products are dull and uninteresting. This is not a Virgin company.
