I have been working at Virgin Media full-time

    Pros

The training they had provided was alright, however the work load is far too much for the amount they pay!

    Cons

Late finishes always, they can't seem to work out the correct route ever. Their is no family live balance.

    Advice to Management

They don't know what they're are doing. They must try and change their attitude

I have been working at Virgin Media full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some decent perks. Cheap tv & bb packages, private healthcare etc. Majority of colleagues are good fun to work with. Claiming mileage on car for surveys/meetings very generous. New uniform ordered when needed. Car salary sacrifice program. Limited but some training is encouraged to progress yourskills. As VM seem to be investing in personal progression. Just local management don’t get it yet.

    Cons

Work life balance was promised but quickly snapped away because of Eagle Court and its dog eat dog mentality. Too many nosey and or jealous staff In the same building. There is also a very obvious racist problem with Eagle Court. Too many Asian staff members who only talk to their “own kind”. Speaking Punjabi so they look better than the next white guy because he can’t understand. Just casually walking past a colleague who is Asian wont look you in the eye. But a fellow Asian gets 20 questions about his family even though the two don’t even know each other’s first names. Preferential treatment for anyone who can speak Punjabi to the security desk. Who may as well just be receptionist. Disabled bays always full but I forget my parking pass for one day and I get an email chasing me. Eagle Court is very toxic. Mobile work phone never works. Support from EE is minimal. Local management is non existent. And when it is, they have no real management experience. No local management have been on courses or are even qualified to be in management. For of a “face fits” excercise.
New job opportunities are very little, and not much room to progress. Feel very stunted to work here. Salary is ok but definitely below national standard. Only way to see salary increase is moving to another company or if you are lucky enough to move job role. Yearly salary review is below inflation. Due to Project Lightening. Many staff see this as an opportunity to progress so step on anyone to get to the top. This resulted in a massive mess of lies at start of 2017. Where senior management had a shake up. 9 months late another restructure and another 100+ redundancies. Employee Services department is outsourced to Bangalore with Accenture. And it it absolutely abissmal. No support from the “people team” having to escalate any query you raise to management. There is just no compassion or empathy from the culture differences beteeen uk and India.

    Advice to Management

If you are a manager. Invest your time in training in management skills. If you think you don’t have time to learn. Then you are part of the problem within local management for VM. Find yourself another job. Senior management are trying to get better. Very slow progress but keep it up.
